Tree Plantation Drive Under Shree Aranyam Project Launched in Greater Noida
In a significant step towards environmental conservation, The Art of Living (AoL) and the Greater Noida Authority have inaugurated the Shree Aranyam Project. This initiative aims to enhance biodiversity by planting over 5,000 trees in its first phase and caring for 10,000 plants over the next three years. The plantation drive commenced today in Sector P-3 of Greater Noida, organized jointly by AoL, the Greater Noida Authority, and IIMT.
The event was inaugurated by Tejpal Nagar, the MLA of Dadri. Savita Sharma, a social worker from The Art of Living, emphasized the importance of this mega plantation drive. According to Sharma, the project not only involves planting trees but also commits to nurturing these saplings for the next three years. The primary goal is to contribute to environmental preservation and increase greenery, ensuring a healthier and more sustainable environment for future generations.
The event witnessed participation from various dignitaries and community leaders. Umesh Kumar, Director of IIMT Group of Colleges, along with faculty and students, took part in the tree planting activities. Mayank Agarwal, MD of IIMT, also conveyed his support for the initiative. MLA Tejpal Nagar expressed his gratitude and congratulations to The Art of Living team and IIMT for their dedication to planting trees and caring for them over the next three years. He hailed the initiative as a commendable effort and stressed the importance of not being stingy with tree care. “Just as fish cannot survive without water, we too cannot thrive without trees. I urge the AoL team to continue such programs in the future to ensure the safety and sustainability of our environment and our future generations,” Nagar said.
The significance of trees in our lives is well-documented. Trees are essential for oxygen production, a fact recognized by Emperor Ashoka, who planted millions of trees along roadsides centuries ago. This tree plantation event on August 10, 2024, reflects a continued commitment to this ancient wisdom. The joint effort by The Art of Living, Greater Noida Authority, and IIMT highlights the critical role of trees in sustaining life and maintaining a green environment. In accordance with ancient scriptures, it is suggested that each person should plant 28 trees in their lifetime to live a good life and enjoy a healthy, green environment.
