Truck carrying sugar worth 3.5lakh got looted , police arrest driver as suspect

A Driver of a truck who left from Merrut with a sugar consignment alleged that a women and a man had looted 200 Sacks of sugar by drugging him. While truck owner alleged that driver is also involved in the conspiracy.
According to the police, Sunil (41) was driving a truck carrying 10 quintals of sugar worth cost of 3.5 lakhs on January 19, from Meerut to Sahibabad.
The truck belonged to Manoj Saksena, a Meerut-based sugar businessman who had sent a sugar consignment to Sahibabad for delivery.
“As we were probing the empty truck, the driver, Sunil came to us and narrated the details of his journey. He told us that on his way from Meerut to Sahibabad, a couple who claimed they were husband and wife, asked him for a lift to Sahibabad. Sunil claimed that he gave them lift and the trio stopped at a roadside restaurant in Modinagar to have lunch. He claimed that he doesn’t remember anything after he had lunch at the dhaba in Modinagar alleging that he was drugged by the couple. This was the driver’s story as he claimed that he reached Dadri in search of his truck on the basis of leads he got from people who told him where his truck was parked,” said Ram Sen Singh, station house officer, Dadri police station.
However, police refused to believe Sunil’s story after Saksena, the owner of the truck and the consignment, lodged a complaint with the police against the driver. Saksena said the GPS device installed in the truck showed that the truck never reached Modinagar and instead headed towards interiors of Meerut.
“We have arrested Sunil and booked him under Indian Penal Code Section 406 for criminal breach of trust,” he said.
