New Delhi (India), 16th April 2023: Cab aggregator company, Uber sees the aviation industry as one of the main growth drivers of its business and has entered into an agreement with AAI to expand and establish its cab service zone throughout their airports, informed a senior company official.

One out of every ten rides on the Uber platform is an airport travel, according to Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia, who spoke to PTI. He said that in January and February of this year, airport trips increased by about 100%.

Singh said, “We have signed an MOU with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to provide Uber’s service at multiple AAI airports. This is something that we believe is to truly participate in one of the fastest-growing segments of the Indian economy, which is the aviation sector. We see that we are an incredibly critical part of that growth.”

Uber Zone enables the company to offer specific pickup and drop-off locations, implement technology to aid users in finding Uber Zones, and offer driver partners convenient parking, among other things. Because many airports are situated further from city centre, he claimed that airport excursions often have a higher value.

Singh also said, “Almost 17 percent of the total revenue we make in the country comes from trips to and fro from airports, which shows how important this segment is for us.”
