Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi hails PM Modi’s leadership qualities as he completes 20 years in public office

New Delhi, 20th October: Speaking during a Q&A session at the ’20 years of Modification: Glimpses of Accomplishments from Gujarat to New India’ on Monday, Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi hailed the initiatives taken by the Prime Minister to empower every section of the society, including women, and economically and socially weaker communities.

“The institutions and offices have always been there, it is the leadership that makes the difference. I have seen Mr. Modi’s work both as a CM and a PM. He works tirelessly for his country,” she said.

She further spoke about how India’s perception has been changing on a global level ever since PM Modi took charge. “There is no hesitation now in showing our passports.”

When asked about the Gujrat riots during the Q& A session by senior journalist Bipin Sharma, Meenakshi Lekhi said that the 2002 riots were last such upheavel in the state. “Gujarat used to have frequent riots since 1800s. However, 2002 riots were the last one to have erupted in the state, but nobody would tell you that.”

The BJP Leader also urged the masses to contribute to the nation building by doing their bit. “Even something as little as keeping ones’ streets and roads neat and clean count as contribution. We should try not to burden our system and people just because we think it is not our job.”

The program was organised under the aegis of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to commemorate 75th anniversary of Indian Independence.

The program began with lighting of the lamp followed by national anthem. After that Kajal Sonka delivered the welcome address and threw light on the theme of the event.

A video song “Tyaag Tapsyaa Ke 20 Saal” was shown during the event, depicting the journey of Narendra Modi from Being Gujarat’s Chief Minister to India’s Prime Minister. The video song highlighted 20 major achievements of Narendra Modi including Gujarat Earth quake, Surgical strikes, GST, Triple Talaq, Abrogation of Article 370, Ram Mandir and more.
