Union Minister Piyush Goyal inaugurates IIGF & IFJAS, hails Noida as an emerging hub for textiles & jewellery

Greater Noida – 20th June 2022: Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Govt. of India jointly inaugurated the 16th edition of Indian Fashion Jewellery & Accessories show (IFJAS) being held concurrently with the 67th India International Garment (IIGF) in a vibrant ceremony today. The fairs are being held at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida, NCR Delhi. IFJAS is organized by Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) and IIGF is organized by Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC). The occasion was also graced by Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Member of Parliament from Gautam Buddha Nagar.

Apart from above dignitaries, Anil Aggarwal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Dharmesh S. Tomar, MLA-Uttar Pradesh, Dr A Sakthivel, President, FIEO, Mr. Lalit Thukral, Chairman, India International Garment Fair (IGFA), Mr. Naren Goenka, Chairman, AEPC, Sandeep Chhabra, President – Reception Committee, IFJAS 2022; committee members of both EPCH and AEPC were present during the inauguration ceremony, said Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General, EPCH and Chairman, India Exposition Mart Ltd.

In his inaugural address, Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Govt. of India, complimented the textiles and handicrafts sector. He stressed on the importance of the sector in contributing to India’s growth and development, expecting a modest growth of doubling production and tripling exports in the next five to six years. He also appraised the trade on the many trade agreements being negotiated and worked out between India and EU, Switzerland, UK, Canada, Israel, LAC countries and the Middle East. He shared that the world is looking at India as a nation with huge potential and immense possibilities. He encouraged the sector to boost cluster-based development as it is holistic, cost-effective and sustainable. He complimented India Expo Centre & Mart for the exceptional and the only one of its kind independently profit-making exhibition centre. He also hailed Noida as an emerging hub for textiles, Jewellery and MICE.

Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Member of Parliament from Gautam Buddha Nagar said, he felt privileged and happy to be at ‘the happening place’- India Expo Centre and Mart. He complimented and encouraged the sector to achieve higher goals, given the infrastructural development and progress, especially in terms of improving power availability and the upcoming international airport at Jewar, in close proximity to the exhibition centre.

The 16th edition of the Indian Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Show – IFJAS 2022 is open to
overseas buyers, buying and sourcing professionals as well as domestic volume retail buyers as a
thoughtfully conceptualised sector exclusive show. 150+ exhibitors drawn from all parts of the
country have put on display, fashion jewellery; semi-precious jewellery; belts &; wallets; hand
bags & purses; fashion accessories; head & hair accessories; stoles ; scarves; shawls; embroidered, beaded; sequined accessories; fancy footwear; artisanal apparel; protective wear
accessories; and components, Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General EPCH and Chairman-IEML
informed.

Fashion shows being organised during IFJAS 2022 will be one of the main attractions for the visiting buyers who will be witnessing the varied and exquisite products of fashion jewellery & accessories being displayed by models on ramp.

Sandeep Chhabra, President – Reception Committee, IFJAS 2022 said that as part of EPCH’s  endeavors to promote products of artisans of different craft clusters, an exclusive regional display with participants from across the country are set up at IFJAS. This will also be another attractions for the buyers and their visit to the artisan stands will boost the morale of the participating primary producers during the three days extravaganza.

IFJAS is a one of a kind trade show that attracts buyers for head-to-toe fashion sourcing; fashion jewellery as well as accessories to apparel. It is organized by EPCH, the organizers of the famed
IHGF Delhi Fair that is held twice every year.

EPCH is a nodal agency for promoting exports of handicrafts from the country to various destinations of the world and projecting India’s image abroad as a reliable supplier of high quality handicrafts goods & services. The Handicrafts exports during the year 2021-22 was Rs. 33253.00 Crores (US $ 4459.76 Million) registering a growth of 29.49% in rupee term &; 28.90% in dollar terms over previous year. The exports of Indian Fashion Jewellery & Accessories during the year 2021-22 was Rs. 1908.517 Crores (US $ 255.97 Million) registering a growth of 24.20% over previous year informed by Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General, EPCH.
