Delivering an inspiring and high-energy address, Piyush Goyal discussed the country’s current social, economic, and national security challenges, and highlighted how India is transforming these challenges into opportunities to emerge as a global leader.

He told students, “You are not just degree holders today—you are nation-builders. By 2047, when India celebrates 100 years of independence, it will be today’s youth that will lead the country to become the world’s largest and strongest economy.” Goyal noted that India has already become the fifth-largest economy, is poised to rise to fourth place by 2025, and will soon be in the top three. “These aren’t just numbers,” he said, “they reflect the strength of young India.”

He predicted that India’s economy would grow from $4 trillion to $30–35 trillion by 2047 and stressed the importance of quality education, innovation, and youth confidence to achieve this.

Youth Participation in National Security and Peace
Referring to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, Goyal praised the swift and decisive response of the Indian Armed Forces. “Within 24 hours of the attack, the Prime Minister ensured a powerful response. At 1:46 AM, retaliatory strikes were carried out at nine locations. We can proudly say the sacrifice of our soldiers will not go in vain,” he said. He also mentioned the government’s target to eliminate Naxalism by March 31, 2026, and affirmed that decisive actions are underway.

India’s STEM Leadership and Global Contributions
“India leads the world in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics),” Goyal said, pointing out that 43% of the world’s STEM graduates are from India—with a significant number being women. This talent is fulfilling global needs. He highlighted a recent India–UK agreement under which Indian professionals will no longer have to pay the earlier 22% tax while working in the UK, enhancing their global competitiveness.

Embracing AI and Emerging Technologies
Speaking on the rise of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Goyal encouraged students to embrace these technologies rather than fear them. “The human brain will always stay two steps ahead of AI,” he stated. “AI is just a tool—it can never replace humans.” He urged youth to conduct research, launch startups, and make India self-reliant in technology.

Boundless Opportunities in the Defense Sector
Touching on the potential in defense manufacturing, drone technology, and clean energy, Goyal said that the developing Defense Corridor in Uttar Pradesh is bringing numerous opportunities for youth. “This is a golden time for students interested in innovation and manufacturing,” he added.

Pride in Galgotias University’s Achievements
Piyush Goyal lauded Galgotias University, noting that it ranks third in India for patent filings and hosts around 100 active startups. “This reflects a true spirit of inquiry—the ability to generate and implement new ideas,” he said.

Need for Youth Participation in Politics
He stressed the need for honest and visionary youth in politics. “The Prime Minister envisions a political landscape where young people without political backgrounds step forward. On August 15, he called for at least one lakh youth to enter politics. The country doesn’t just need politicians—it needs good leaders,” Goyal said.

Ending with Tagore’s Inspirational Words
In his closing remarks, Goyal paid tribute to Rabindranath Tagore on his birth anniversary by quoting:

“Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal.”

He encouraged students to dream big, aim high, and contribute to making India a global leader.
