Union Minster Piyush Goyal inaugurates 17th IFJAS, 69th IIGF at India Expo Mart

Greater Noida/Delhi-NCR – 26th June, 2023 – Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Govt. of India, inaugurated the 17th edition of Indian Fashion Jewellery & Accessories show (IFJAS) being held concurrently with the 69th India International Garment (IIGF) in a vibrant ceremony today. The fairs are being held at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida, Delhi NCR. IFJAS is organized by Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) and IIGF is organized by Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC). Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Member of Parliament from Gautam Buddha Nagar, was the Guest of Honour.
Amrit Raj, IPoS, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts); Raj Kumar Malhotra, Immediate Past Chairman, EPCH; Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General, EPCH & Chairman, IEML; Padma Dr A. Sakthivel, President FIEO; Naren Goenka, Chairman, AEPC; Lalit Thukral, Chairman, IGFA; Amit Jain and Harshwardhan Gupta, President and Vice President, IFJAS 2023; R. K. Verma, Executive Director, EPCH; and committee members of both EPCH and AEPC were also present.
In his inaugural address, Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Textiles, Govt. of India, commended the exports sector for generating employment and contributing to India’s expertise in sustainable textiles that will be the driving force for achieving a circular economy. He emphasized on adaptation of modern technology while maintaining traditional expertise. Urging the export community to create a ‘Wow’ factor that embellishes India’s increasing global relevance, Goyal declared, “the world is looking at India, therefore we don’t have the luxury of time and must work at a rapid pace to create opportunities & vistas for the future generations, young entrepreneurs, start-ups and upcoming business entities in the exports sector.” He touched upon the bilateral trade agreements with many nations and further talks with others, citing the many opportunities that emerge. He assured of the Govt.’s support in industry’s growth and export enhancing endeavors.
Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Member of Parliament from Gautam Buddha Nagar appreciated and commended the fair venue-India Expo Centre & Mart, under the leadership of Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman, IEML and Director General, EPCH, for the sector’s advancement and for putting Noida on the international map through the fairs conducted here. He also commended the textile sector’s growth and assured the Govt.’s support as he touched upon the 300 acre apparel park in Greater Noida and its employment generative capacity, especially for women.
Dileep Baid, Chairman, EPCH wished the best of the business for all the exhibitors and visiting buyers from across the globe and hoped that this initiative will continue to inspire many more to be part of the product specific Fashion Jewellery and Fashion Accessories show there by leading to overall enhanced exports of the segment.
The 17th edition of the Indian Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Show – IFJAS 2023 is open to overseas buyers, buying and sourcing professionals as well as domestic volume retail buyers as a thoughtfully conceptualised sector exclusive show. Around 200 exhibitors drawn from all parts of the country have put on display, fashion jewellery; semi-precious jewellery; belts & wallets; hand bags & purses; fashion accessories; head & hair accessories; stoles & scarves; shawls; embroidered, beaded & sequined accessories; fancy footwear; artisanal apparel; protective wear accessories; and components, informed Raj Kumar Malhotra, Immediate Past Chairman, EPCH
In response to the Minister’s vision for a grand textiles fair spreading beyond India Expo Centre to cover Pragati Maidan as well as India International Convention Centre, Dwarka, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman, IEML and Director General, EPCH, shared about the big textiles and related shows that the India Expo Centre has already been hosting. He assured the Minister that such Indian Textiles Mega Sourcing event would certainly be a reality soon, under the guidance and support assured by the Textiles Minister.
Fashion shows being organised during IFJAS 2023 are one of the main attractions for the visiting buyers who will be witnessing the varied and exquisite products of fashion jewellery & accessories being displayed by models on ramp.
Amit Jain, President – Reception Committee, IFJAS 2023 said that as part of EPCH’s endeavors to promote products of artisans of different craft clusters, an exclusive regional display with around 20 artisans from pan India are set up at IFJAS. This will also be another attraction for the buyers and their visit to the artisan stands will boost the morale of the participating primary producers during the three days extravaganza.
Harshvardhan Gupta, Vice President – Reception Committee, IFJAS 2023 said while the day was eventful, the evening was celebratory with the Best Design and Display Awards given away to exhibitors, followed by a Networking Evening, congregating many buyers and exhibitors.
IFJAS is a one of a kind trade show that attracts buyers for head-to-toe fashion sourcing; fashion jewellery as well as accessories to apparel. It is organized by EPCH, the organizers of the famed IHGF Delhi Fair that is held twice every year.
