UP Govt to bring GIMS at par with AIIMS & SGPGI, says UP Chief Sec on 7th Foundation Day of GIMS
Greater Noida, 25th Feb: The Government Institute of Medical Sciences celebrated its 7th Foundation day on 25th Feb. 2022. The Chief Secretary (Govt of UP) & President GIMS Society, Durga Shanker Mishra, IAS was the Chief Guest for the occasion.
The guest of honour were Narendra Bhooshan, IAS CEO, GNIDA and Alok Kumar, IAS Principal Secretary (Medical Education) & Vice President, GIMS Society.
The program began with a short film on the journey and achievements of GIMS. The program was officially inaugurated by the Chief Secretary (Govt. UP) with lamp lighting and Saraswati vandana by the students. The CMS, Dr Saurabh Srivastava, welcomed the dignitaries.
The Chief Secretary, in his address, praised GIMS for its contribution during COVID-19 pandemic. He further said that to compensate for the shortage in the field of medicine, he would try his best to bring GIMS at par with SGPGI and AIIMS. He also added that the government is very serious about the development in the field of medicine, it is the endeavor of the government that the people of the state should get better medical facilities, for which the government is trying to open medical colleges in every district of the state. Chief Secretary also inaugurated the College of Nursing, GIMS on the foundation day.
In his address, Director Dr. Brigadier Rakesh Gupta informed the people about the achievements of the institute. The Director also informed that the institute has achieved this position in the state and the country, in such a short span of time, due to the service it rendered to the patients during Covid. This was followed by the address of the guest of honours, who appreciated the efforts put up by the Director and faculty of GIMS.
During the function, the overall topper in annual examinations and students who scored highest in various subjects were awarded gold and silver medals respectively. Best Faculty awards in academics, research and patient care were given to Dr Manisha Singh, Dr Vivek Gupta and Dr Rashmi Upathdaya respectively. The program ended with vote of thanks by Dr Shivani Kalhan.
