UP International Trade Show (UPITS) will prove to be a milestone in development of UP: President Murmu

Greater Noida 21st September 2023: UP International Trade Show will be proved as a milestone in the development of UP, says President of India, Droupadi Murmu while embarked on the inaugural ceremony of maiden trade show of Uttar Pradesh.

In a grand spectacle of economic prowess, cultural richness, and entrepreneurial zeal, Uttar Pradesh,
the heartland of India, has unveiled the UP International Trade Show (UPITS 2023). This aspirational
trade show, a first-of-its-kind initiative by any state government in India, has set the stage for
showcasing the jubilant growth across various sectors that Uttar Pradesh has achieved in recent
years. Hosted at the prestigious India Expo Centre and Mart, the event has become a beacon of hope
for those eager to witness the transformative journey of the state.

The maiden UP Trade Show declared open by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, in the esteemed presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta “Nandi,” Minister for MSMEs Rakesh Sachan, shared the dais with the President and CM. The event also witnessed the participation of key Cabinet Ministers of the Uttar Pradesh government, including PWD Brijesh Singh MP Surya Pratap Shahi, Minister of State of Vocational Education and Skill Development Kapil Dev Aggarwal, MoS for Jal Shakti Dinesh Khatik, Ballia Nagar MLA Dayashankar Singh, Gautam Buddha Nagar MLA Mahesh Sarma along with other distinguished dignitaries. Seven Padma awardees, individuals who have made unparalleled contributions to the growth of the state and the nation, graced the event with their presence.

Droupadi Murmu in her concluding speech appreciates CM Yogi and his entire team for
organising such a grand trade show. She says that she is hopeful that this show will provide a global
platform to the trades and industries of Uttar Pradesh. UP has contributed exponentially to the GDP
of the country in last 6 years. The GDP of UP was 13 lakh crores in the year 2016-17 that is estimated
to be increased by 22 lakh crores in year 2022-23 and his achievement is undoubtedly phenomenal.
Such efforts have made the country as 5 th biggest economy in the world and sooner will become 3 rd
biggest economy in the world. UP has pledged to make the State as 1 trillion-dollar economy and
hopes that UP will contribute further to make the country as 5 trillion-dollar economy. She says UP is
top on the chart in the number of MSMEs in the state with 96 lakh MSMEs. The export is continuously increasing in the state and it has increased by 1.75 lakh crore in 2022-23 from 88 thousand crore in year 2017-18. She expresses her belief that this show will be proved as a milestone in the development of UP.

Minister for MSMEs Rakesh Sachan says that this event is one of its kind trade shows in which people from various sectors and corner of UP are taking part to exhibit their products. Earlier the trade shows were limited to exhibit only a few sectors but this time all the sectors are participating in the trade show including defence, agriculture, e-commerce, industries, education, dairy, fisheries, textile, handloom, GI products that will be the main attractions of this event. The G 20 organised in the leadership of PM Modi has brought recognition to the country. Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana has been started by PM Modi in all over the country following the State started ODOP scheme in 2018 and Vishwakarma Yojana in 2019 in the guidance of CM to uplift the artisans, small traders and businesses in the State.

CM Yogi Adityanath welcomes President for coming to the show. He said that this trade show is the manifestation of the endeavours that have been made by UP Govt. in last six years to promote trades, businesses and industries in the guidance of PM Modi. Also said, since this is the first international trade show, we had challenges to organise it but we overcome them; adds that being inspired by PM Modi we forwarded to transform UP as a developed State from a Bimaru State and moved to become a developed economy. This transformation of Uttar Pradesh in terms of economic development is pretty evident in the form of this Trade show. We already started many schemes like ODOP to promote the traditional trades and craft of UP that PM Modi has started now as Vishwakarma scheme. We have promoted our small traders and MSMEs that resulted the registration of over 70,000 B2B buyers for the trade show. It is the New Uttar Pradesh of New India that has recognised its potential. It has not only emerged as the biggest market for trade but the biggest consumer market and workforce market as well. It has shown its potential by changing its scale to skill. He said that he believes that this trade show will represent the India’s economy as the Growth Engine of the State as aspired by PM Modi.

A noteworthy highlight of the event was the interaction between the President and 300 women entrepreneurs, whose stalls were accommodated in Hall no. 10. The President also visited Hall no. 11, which showcased over 400 startups that are gaining global exposure through this mega trade show.

Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, the state has embarked on an incredible journey to become the growth engine of India. This transformation focuses on key pillars that are redefining Uttar Pradesh's economic landscape. UPITS 2023, a unique B2B and B2C show, serves as the platform to highlight the various sectors that collectively contribute to Uttar Pradesh’s growth story, bringing them all together under one roof for global recognition and collaboration.

Beyond trade and business, the event promises a cultural extravaganza, with nightly cultural performances that offer a glimpse into the rich culture and performing arts of Uttar Pradesh. On the
inaugural day of the trade show, attendees enjoyed cultural performances, including Sugam Sangeet
by Amit Mishra and a captivating Shiv Tandav Kathak dance by the renowned duo Saurav
Mishra and Gaurav Mishra. Furthermore, food counters featuring traditional Uttar Pradesh cuisine
and international delicacies add flavour to the event.

The UP International Trade Show 2023 is more than just a trade exhibition, it is a testament to the
resurgent spirit of Uttar Pradesh, a state that is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of
India’s economy and cultural heritage. As UPITS 2023 unfolds, it serves as an embodiment of the
state’s aspiration to be the growth engine of New India, illuminating the path to prosperity,
innovation, and global collaboration.
