UP Police intensifies search for Vikas Dubey, prize money increased to 2.5 lakh

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), July 6, 2020: Uttar Pradesh police has intensified its search operation for the state’s most wanted criminal Vikas Dubey, who is absconding after killing 8 policemen in a horrifying shootout on Thursday night.
Dubey, who has over 60 criminal cases registered against him and he has been on a run since the killing of the policemen near his home in Bikru village in Kanpur rural.
On Saturday, UP police also suspended the station house in-charge of the area under which Dubey’s village would fall, after suspecting a leak of raid information to Dubey from a mole in the police station.
As per state police, fifty dedicated teams and over 3,000 police personnel across the state have been deployed in a massive manhunt to nab the gangster.
Security agencies are also keeping a close eye across India Nepal border in the nearby areas to keep check on probability of Dubey running out of the country.
According to Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Hitesh Chandra Awasthy, all 75 districts of the state have been kept on alert and maximize their surveillance for the arrest of dreaded criminal Dubey and his accomplice.
Meanwhile, Dubey’s father who has also present at their ancestral home in Bikru village has said that he had no idea of his son’s acts and he was deep in sleep when whole of the incident occurred.
Speaking to reporters, he said, “My health wasn’t good and I was sleeping. I don’t know what happened here. I was sleeping throughout the night. I can only tell that Vikas was there at the house on that night but I don’t what all happened later.”
Moreover, Vikas’s wife Richa, who stays in Lucknow with their kids, has also come under police investigation after it was revealed that her cell phone was allegedly connected with village’s CCTV all the time and she would keep an eye on everything that was happening there. Police has confiscated her cell phone and further investigation is underway.
