UP Trauma Task Force Working to Strengthen Emergency & Trauma Services Across UP: Dr. L.D. Mishra | GIMS

Greater Noida News (19/09/2026): A two-day trauma summit, “Trauma Summit Phoenix – The Great Unburdening,” brought together leading specialists in trauma care, emergency medicine, anaesthesia and critical care in Greater Noida on September 18 and 19.

Organized at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, and Hotel Expo Inn & Suites, the summit focused on strengthening emergency response systems, improving trauma management and enhancing clinical preparedness among healthcare professionals.

The conference was organized by the Department of Anaesthesia & Critical Care, GIMS, in collaboration with the Department of Emergency Medicine. The scientific programme featured expert lectures, panel discussions, paper and poster presentations, along with three specialized workshops covering Simulation in Trauma and Emergency Procedures, POCUS in Trauma with Nerve Blocks, and Mechanical Ventilation.

The scientific sessions held on September 19 at Hotel Expo Inn & Suites addressed critical aspects of trauma management, including the golden hour of trauma care, bleeding control, airway management, brain and spinal injuries, polytrauma management and post-initial-treatment patient care. Participants were also awarded 6 UPMC Credit Points.

Speaking to Ten News Network, Dr. L.D. Mishra, Distinguished Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), highlighted the need for a coordinated and robust trauma-care network across Uttar Pradesh.

Dr. Mishra said he had established the Department of Emergency Medicine at BHU and headed the Division of Neuroanaesthesia and Neurointensive Care for nearly 14 years.

He further stated that after superannuating from BHU in 2007, he joined the Uttar Pradesh Government’s Department of Medical Education, where he served as the State Nodal Officer and Chairman of the UP Trauma Task Force.

According to Dr. Mishra, the UP Trauma Task Force is working towards strengthening emergency and trauma services across the state by improving preparedness and response mechanisms at medical colleges, district hospitals and health centres, including healthcare facilities located along major expressways and highways.

Speaking about the significance of the Trauma Summit, Dr. Mishra said such academic initiatives play an important role in creating greater awareness about emergency medicine and improving trauma-care practices among healthcare professionals.

He also said that the proposal concerning the UP Trauma Task Force has completed the required government processes and is currently in the final stages of approval by the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet.

The summit was held under the patronage of (Brig) Dr. Rakesh Gupta, with Dr. Nazia Nazir serving as Organizing Chairperson and Dr. Samiksha Khanoja as Organizing Secretary.

The event witnessed participation from several prominent medical experts, including Dr. Rohini, Dr. Sachin Maheshwari, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Atul Gupta, Dr. Hukam Singh, Dr. Leena Goel, Dr. Jitendra Agarwal, Dr. Apoorv Mittal, Dr. Arun Altiwar, Dr. Rahul Baghla, Dr. Avinash Kumar, Dr. Neetu Bhadoria, Dr. Junaid Maqbool, Dr. Anshul Jain, Dr. Shivani Katiyar, Dr. Pratibha Panjiar, Dr. Sandeep Pandey, Dr. Parul Isar, Dr. Akhilesh Gupta, Dr. Rohit Saxena, Dr. Rambha Pathak, Dr. Ranveer Tyagi, Dr. T. Prabhakar, Dr. Musharraf Hussain, Dr. Sanjeev Bhoi, Dr. L.D. Mishra, Dr. M.C. Mishra, Dr. Rakesh Garg, and Dr. Surekha.

The two-day summit provided a platform for specialists to exchange clinical knowledge, discuss challenges in emergency and trauma management, and explore ways to further strengthen trauma-care systems across Uttar Pradesh.
