Greater Noida (13th August 2025): The campus of Ursuline Convent Senior Secondary School was abuzz with energy and innovation today as it played host to the grand inauguration of “Ursuline Confluence Science Quest 2025″—a science exhibition and competition that brought together more than 200 budding scientists from various schools across the city.

The annual event, a flagship initiative of the school, aims to ignite curiosity, promote scientific inquiry, and provide a platform for young minds to present their innovative ideas and practical solutions to real-world challenges.

In an exclusive talk with Ten News Network Sister Rekha Punia, the Principal of Ursuline Convent School, shared her thoughts on the theme and vision behind this year’s confluence.

In today’s rapidly evolving world, where artificial intelligence and innovation are at the forefront of progress, we felt it was essential to create a space where students can explore the wonders of science, she said. Every year, Ursuline Confluence is held as a tradition, and this year we chose the theme of Science Quest to highlight scientific creativity and discovery. We are proud to host participants from several schools across Greater Noida, offering them a platform to showcase their talent.

When asked about the significance of hosting such an event with participation from over 200 students, Sister Rekha emphasized the growing scientific inclination among the youth.

We’re witnessing a very promising trend. Government initiatives like the INSPIRE Awards – MANAK and various science promotion schemes have helped instill a sense of curiosity in students from an early age. Earlier, such interest in innovation emerged much later in academic life, but now we’re seeing it develop right from the school level. This gives us hope for a very promising generation of problem-solvers, she noted.

Sustainability, Innovation & Real-World Relevance

This year, the projects showcased at the Science Quest revolve around sustainability, eco-friendly innovations, and solutions to the energy crisis—issues that are both timely and globally relevant.

Students have focused heavily on models and concepts that address environmental sustainability and green energy. Their understanding of the need for eco-conscious innovation is truly commendable, said Sister Rekha.

She further underlined the importance of events like these in bridging the gap between textbook knowledge and real-world application.

Platforms like the Science Quest go a long way in complementing classroom learning. They offer hands-on experience and stimulate the analytical part of the student’s brain. It’s not just theory—they’re solving real-life problems, which helps connect academic knowledge to practical scenarios, she explained.
