Greater Noida (13th August 2025): Ursuline Convent Senior Secondary School, Greater Noida, stood at the heart of innovation and intellectual exploration as it inaugurated its highly anticipated annual science fest — “Ursuline Confluence: Science Quest 2025.” Drawing participation from more than 200 students across various schools, the event marked a grand celebration of creativity, scientific thought, and real-world problem-solving.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Gajanan Mali, Founder and Director of Ten News Network, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, alongside school management, dignitaries, mentors, and enthusiastic student participants.
A Legacy of Scientific Learning and Innovation
Held at the lush campus of Ursuline Convent Sr. Sec. School located in Sector-36, Greater Noida, this year’s confluence focused on the theme “Science Quest”, aimed at nurturing scientific temper and encouraging student-led innovation through competitions such as Chem-O-Canva (poster-making), Tech Masters (machine-making from waste), and the Galactic Quiz (space science-based quiz).
The school, affiliated with CBSE (Affiliation No. 2130692), has a long-standing tradition of encouraging holistic learning. Principal Sister Rekha Punia emphasized the event’s vision during her address, In an era where artificial intelligence, sustainability, and innovation drive the global discourse, it becomes imperative that we start preparing our students not just academically but as problem-solvers and innovators. Science Quest is our humble effort to bridge the gap between textbooks and real-world challenges,” she stated.
She further highlighted how participation in such events fosters analytical thinking and scientific consciousness from an early age. It’s heartening to see young minds confidently demonstrating working models, presenting solutions for environmental and societal issues, and communicating their ideas with passion. It truly reflects the rising scientific temperament among today’s youth, she added.
Chief Guest Gajanan Mali Applauds Vision, Urges Students to Dream Big
In his keynote address, Mr. Gajanan Mali captivated the audience with his motivating words, drawing from personal experiences and national aspirations.
Firstly, I extend my heartfelt greetings on the upcoming 79th Independence Day. I have been associated with Ursuline Convent for nearly two decades and have seen firsthand how it has evolved into a hub for academic and intellectual excellence, he began.
Commending the school’s initiative, Mali lauded the Confluence as more than just a school event, calling it a “laboratory of ideas.”
The idea behind organizing a science exhibition like Science Quest is to ignite young minds—to encourage students to innovate, ask questions, and find solutions to challenges around them. This aligns perfectly with the spirit of the Indian Constitution, which explicitly promotes the development of scientific temper. India is possibly the only country where this is enshrined constitutionally, he noted.
He emphasized that scientific thinking is not a luxury but a necessity in the pursuit of national development. Our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given us a vision—to become a developed nation by 2047. Achieving this requires scientific and technological excellence. Nations like China, Germany, and the UK are commanding global respect due to their innovations, and now, India is rising rapidly as a technological and economic powerhouse.
Reflecting on the projects presented by students, Mr. Mali expressed admiration:
As I walked through the exhibits, I was truly amazed. From Newton to Einstein, from space models to working machines made from waste—the talent and creativity on display were phenomenal. These students are not just participating in a competition—they are stepping forward as future scientists, engineers, and change-makers.
He concluded with a powerful message:
Let us remember, science and innovation are not just for individual or family progress—they are for the growth of the nation and humanity at large. Events like Science Quest help light that first spark. The era we’re entering is governed by Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, and the students here today will be the ones steering it.
Event Highlights and Student Participation
The Chem-O-Canva event saw middle schoolers create thought-provoking posters on chemical pollution, showcasing impressive creativity and awareness about environmental issues.
The Tech Masters competition, designed for students of Classes IX & X, required participants to design working models using discarded materials. From wind-powered chargers to home automation prototypes, the models impressed judges with both innovation and functionality.
The crowd-favorite Galactic Quiz tested senior secondary students on topics ranging from Indian and global space missions to astrophysics and visual identification of celestial bodies.
All participating students wore their school uniforms with pride and were accompanied by teacher mentors. The day-long confluence ended with a prize distribution ceremony, celebrating excellence across all events, and awarding an overall championship trophy to the school with the highest cumulative score.
Looking Ahead: A Culture of Innovation
The overwhelming participation and enthusiasm witnessed at Ursuline Confluence Science Quest 2025 reaffirmed the importance of nurturing curiosity and scientific passion from the school level.
“This is just the beginning,” said Sister Rekha in her closing remarks. Every student who stepped up today, whether with a model, a poster, or a brilliant quiz answer, is part of a larger movement—one that values knowledge, inquiry, and innovation.
As India strides toward its 2047 vision, platforms like this play a crucial role in preparing students to meet the future with confidence, skill, and purpose.
