New Delhi, 07th June 2023: The US Mission in India today conducted the seventh annual Student Visa Day, where over 3,500 Indian student visa applicants were interviewed by the Consular Officers from Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and New Delhi.
Eric Garcetti, the United States’ Ambassador to India, commended the visa winners on their decision to study in the United States.
Brendan Mullarkey, acting Minister Counsellor for Consular Affairs in India, announced that the US Mission will interview a record number of students.
Student Visa Day emphasises the long-standing educational link between India and the United States. Over 200,000 Indian students are studying in academic institutions in the United States this year.
Student exchanges are at the heart of US-India relations, added Garcetti. He further added that both the governments were working to ensure that these opportunities are available to as many Indian students as possible.
