US Senate approves appointment of Indian-American Nisha Biswal as Dy CEO of US Finance agency

New Delhi, 31st July 2023: Nisha Biswal, an Indian-American policy specialist, has been confirmed by the Senate to serve as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a US financial agency.

Biswal will be the United States International Development Finance Corporation’s Deputy CEO.

Expressing her gratitude she tweeted, “Thrilled, honored and humbled to have been confirmed by the Senate to serve as Deputy CEO of @DFCgov.”

She further added, “Thankful for the many friends and colleagues who supported me through confirmation-I will do my best to make you proud! I have been privilegd to work w talented team @USChamber!”

According to a White House press statement, US President Joe Biden announced his intention to propose Nisha Desai Biswal for the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the United States International Development Finance Corporation earlier this year.

“Honored to be nominated by @POTUS to be Deputy CEO of @DFCgov,” Biswal announced her nomination on Twitter.

Biswal has over 30 years of experience in US foreign policy and international development initiatives at the White House, the US Congress, and the business sector.

Biswal is presently the US Chamber of Commerce’s Senior Vice President for International Strategy and Global Initiatives, leading the US-India Business Council and the US-Bangladesh Business Council.

Biswal also served as the US Department of State’s Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs from 2013 to 2017, where she oversaw the US-India strategic partnership during a period of unprecedented cooperation, including the launch of an annual US-India Strategic and Commercial Dialogue.

Biswal previously served as Assistant Administrator for Asia at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), where she directed and oversaw USAID programmes and activities in South, Central, and Southeast Asia.
