UTTAR PRADESH ELECTION RESULTS – LOYALS DUMPED , ELECTABILITY GIVEN PRIORITY

"Only winning and winners matter" – This was the mantra of the BJP in UP. Hence, it was not averse to importing candidates from other parties. Around 100 seats were allocated to candidates who had joined from other parties but were supposed to have better chances of winning than the BJP’s in-house candidates. The new BJP gives more importance to winning over loyalty. This "electability" was a key factor in the selection of candidates in the Maharashtra civic polls too, which the BJP again won.
