WACKER Establishes Global Capability Center in Pune with HCLTech for Digital Transformation

National News (27/08/2026): Wacker Chemie AG, a global specialty chemicals and biotechnology company, has set up a new Global Capability Center (GCC) in Pune in partnership with HCLTech, marking a significant step in strengthening its engineering, IT and digital transformation capabilities in India. The new center is designed to provide WACKER with a flexible and resilient delivery platform to support its global technology and engineering requirements. The GCC will also play a role in advancing the company’s digital modernization initiatives and building long-term operational capabilities.

According to WACKER, the Pune center will be developed through a phased, customer-focused operating model, with HCLTech supporting the organization in establishing its technology and engineering ecosystem.

Fabian Seibold, Director of WACKER Excellence Hub Pune, said the establishment of the GCC represents an important move toward strengthening WACKER’s global delivery and digital execution capabilities. He added that HCLTech’s experience in setting up and expanding capability centers would help create an operating model focused on agility, effective governance and sustainable growth.

The partnership builds on the existing strategic relationship between WACKER and HCLTech. Dr. Frank Fehler, Executive Vice President and Country Head – Germany at HCLTech, said the expanded engagement represents an important milestone in WACKER’s digital transformation journey and reaffirmed HCLTech’s role as a long-term technology and engineering partner.

HCLTech will use its expertise in areas such as DevSecOps and automation to help establish and scale the Pune GCC. The company will also support the development of a high-performing workforce, strengthen governance frameworks, improve operational efficiency and help accelerate WACKER’s digital modernization programs.

Kiran Cherukuri, EVP and Global GCC Practice Head at HCLTech, said the phased approach would enable WACKER to build a future-ready and resilient capability center while maintaining a strong focus on business requirements and operational performance.
