New Delhi: Amidst the news-hogging war between the BJP led Central govt. and the AAP led state govt, a third marginalised but potentially powerful force is flexing its muscles in India’s National Capital Region.

At the call of 11 trade unions, over 2 million workers and employees are planning to go on a one-day strike tommorow. It is after nearly a decade that industrial workers in the capital will strike work on their demands, in a bid to improve fast deteriorating living and working conditions.

The Delhi government is working on a proposal for regularising the services of contractual workers and to abolish contract labour system in Delhi.

Addressing the Media today, Delhi Labour minister Gopal Rai said,

“All the labours who are outsourcing will be regularise. We are regularising the services of contractual workers and to abolish contract labour system in the national capital. For all the labours and labour department, A labour welfare officer will be there. Who will take care of Everything. Labour contract board has taken this decision and This decision is being ready for the cabinet. Then after this decision will be taken forward by the government.”

He further said, “We also want all the labourers to send their students to school and assured that the government is taking steps to make its schools at par with the private schools.”
