Senior Congress leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit passed away in Delhi on Saturday, 20 July. She was 81 years old.
Condoling the news of Dikshit’s demise Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweets, “Deeply saddened by the demise of Sheila Dikshit Ji. Blessed with a warm and affable personality, she made a noteworthy contribution to Delhi’s development. Condolences to her family and supporters. Om Shanti.”
Former congress president Rahul Gandhi said “I’m devastated to hear about the passing away of Shiela Dikshit Ji, a beloved daughter of the Congress Party, with whom I shared a close personal bond. My condolences to her family & the citizens of Delhi, whom she served selflessly as a 3 term CM, in this time of great grief.”
Home Minister Amit Shah in his tweet expressed said extremely saddened to hear the news and pain his condolences to her family members.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tweets, “Just now got to know about extremely terrible news about the passing away of Sheila Dikshit ji. It’s a huge loss for Delhi & her contribution will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to her family members. May her soul rest in peace”

After the news of her dismissal a tweet was done from President of India twitter handle “Sad to hear of the passing of Smt Sheila Dikshit, former Chief Minister of Delhi and a senior political figure. Her term in office was a period of momentous transformation for the capital for which she will be remembered. Condolences to her family and associates”
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted “The passing away of former Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Sheila Dixit is deeply saddening. She was a tall Congress leader known for her congenial nature. Sheilaji was widely respected cutting across party lines. My thoughts are with her bereaved family & supporters. Om Shanti!”
Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal tweeted “The passing away of Sheila Dikshit comes as a shock to all. She represented the spirit of the Congress epitomising all that that it stands for. Her 15 years as CM was a glorious period making Delhi what it is today. May her soul rest in peace.

While detailing about her medical condition Dr Ashok Seth, Director, Escorts Fortis said she was managed well by a team of doctors. At 3:15 pm she again suffered a cardiac arrest. She was put on ventilator and at 3:55 pm she passed away peacefully.
