Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Monday said that the government might suspend the flights to other foreign countries, if a strain of the new virus is detected in those places.
Speaking to a news agency, he said, “Other European countries like Germany, Belgium &France have suspended air travel with United Kingdom. If we receive any information regarding the spread new virus strain in other places, we’ll consider suspending air travel with other countries too.”
Meanwhile, all flights to and from India to UK have already been suspended till December 31. Suspension begins tomorrow midnight.
Elaborating on this move, Puri said, “There are reports from the United Kingdom that new virus strain is spreading at an alarming rate. Therefore, we’ve decided from 23.59 hours of 22 December all flights to & from UK will be temporarily suspended till 31 December 2020.”
