With Alok Tandon at helm, Yamuna Authority gets ready to face upcoming challenges.

With one of the most senior bureaucrat of Uttar Pradesh cadre, Alok Tandon taking over the reins of Yamuna Authority, the development authority will be looking forward to coping with past challenges and improving future prospects.

Alok Tandon, a 1986 batch IAS officer of UP cadre was empanelled by Appointments Committee of the Cabinet for holding secretary post at the Government of India in July 2018.

He was indeed one of the few officers whom Yogi Adityanath had requested back from central deputation.

Tandon is a not a new name in the region and for long time now is handling the charge of Noida Authority’s Chairman and CEO.

He is also the managing director of NMRC and has successfully executed the completion and inauguration of Noida-Greater Noida metro.

His appointment has brought stability to the Noida Authority after a long period of time and quick transfers of many CEO’s.

Now as also the Chairman of YEIDA he will be more directly involved in the upcoming and aspirational Jewar Airport Project. The two authorities where he now holds top posts are the part of Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL)- a special purpose vehicle created for construction of Greenfield airport at Jewar.

Noida Authority has 37.5 % stake and Yamuna Authority has 12.5% stake in NIAL.

He will also be heading the process of acquisition of land for Jewar Airport. With the formation of new government in the Centre it is expected that the focus will again shift back at doing the earliest groundbreaking ceremony for the airport.

Apart from spearheading the large amount of investment that will be coming in the YEIDA region due to Airport project, Alok Tandon as the Chairman will also have to ensure the speedy resolution of issues being faced by buyer of the authority.

Allotment of plots, acquistion of land for sectors and ensuring the construction of promised industrial units have to be prirotised by the new top official of the Yamuna Authority.

It is expected that Alok Tandon will be chairing the first board meeting of this financial season of Yamuna Authority in the month of June and many key decisions can be taken in that board meeting.

Noida Greater Noida Metro Rail is the finest example.
Giving him charge of Jevar International Airport is the best decision the Govt has taken. One can be rest assured that the Airport will be commissioned and made operational in record time.

My only submission is that since the Authority created in the name of Yamuna, Shri Alok Tandonji should be given the additional charge of cleaning and developing waterway in Yamuna river to start ferry service from Noida to Agara as has been done in Varanasi.

For an efficient officer like Shri Alok Tandonji, it is quite possible to achieve and I am sure Shri Tandonji will love to deliver Yamuna River Waterway before his retirement as his retirement gift to Noida Greater Noida people.
