World Pharmacists Day 2026 Celebrated at I.T.S College of Pharmacy with Focus on Healthier Futures

Greater Noida (26 September 2026): I.T.S College of Pharmacy celebrated World Pharmacists Day 2026 with enthusiasm on September 25, focusing on the theme “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures.” The event brought together academic leaders, healthcare professionals, industry representatives, alumni, faculty members and students to highlight the evolving role of pharmacists in healthcare delivery.

Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman, I.T.S – The Education Group, extended his greetings to faculty members and students and highlighted the importance of pharmacists as accessible and dependable healthcare professionals. He urged students to strengthen their professional capabilities and contribute meaningfully towards better patient outcomes and public health.

The programme commenced with the inauguration and ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by the welcome of distinguished guests and participants. Dr. S. Sadish Kumar, Director–Pharmacy, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the 5D’s of a pharmacist’s role in healthcare. He emphasised that empowering pharmacists requires knowledge, technology and purpose, particularly in ensuring appropriate medicine use and patient counselling.

Surinder Sood, Director–PR, I.T.S–The Education Group, stressed the importance of professional growth, communication skills, problem-solving abilities and compassion. He encouraged students to build strong foundations in pharmaceutical sciences while taking active steps to create a positive impact on society.

Sandeep Soni, Consultant CXO & MD, Wixx Healthcare, Delhi, provided an industry-oriented perspective on the changing expectations from pharmacy professionals. He spoke about professional discipline, leadership, adaptability and effective communication, while highlighting the growing concern around antibiotic misuse and the role of pharmacists in addressing the issue.

Dr. M. Kalaivani, Principal Scientific Officer, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), Government of India, spoke about the responsibilities of pharmacists in safeguarding public health and ensuring the quality and appropriate use of medicines. She introduced students to the work of the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission and the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) and highlighted the importance of medicine quality, standardisation and regulatory systems.

The Alumni Talk by Nitin Rajput, Director, NCR Healthcare India Pvt Ltd, Haryana, provided students with practical insights into professional life and career development. He emphasised that pharmacists can contribute to healthier communities by promoting healthy practices and helping people make informed healthcare decisions.

The celebration also featured several student-centred activities, including a quiz, poster presentation and community visit. These activities encouraged students to enhance their knowledge, creativity, communication skills, teamwork and sense of social responsibility while understanding the wider contribution of pharmacists to society.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Sakshi Chauhan, Assistant Professor. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Rajkumari, Dean & Professor, and Manvi, Assistant Professor, while Manish, PDP Trainer, and Sakshi, Assistant Professor, anchored the event. The celebration concluded with group photography and the National Anthem.
