Yamuna Authority’s Top 10 Achievements in One Year: From Jewar Airport to ₹31,000 Crore Industrial Investment

Greater Noida (August 27, 2026): The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is undergoing a major transformation, with the development of the Noida International Airport at Jewar emerging as a powerful catalyst for industrial, commercial and institutional growth. Over the past year, the authority has moved beyond conventional land development and increasingly positioned the Yamuna region as an integrated economic corridor combining aviation, manufacturing, technology, healthcare, logistics, education and global investment.

From the commencement of commercial flights at Noida International Airport to a pipeline of ₹31,000 crore in industrial investment, YEIDA’s recent progress indicates a significant shift in the economic profile of the region. Here are the Top 10 achievements and major development milestones.

1. Noida International Airport becomes the biggest catalyst

The commencement of commercial operations at Noida International Airport on June 15, 2026, marks perhaps the most consequential development for the YEIDA region. IndiGo became the first airline to operate from the airport, connecting Jewar with domestic destinations. The airport was inaugurated on March 28, 2026, after receiving the required regulatory clearances.

The airport is expected to fundamentally change the economic geography of the Yamuna region by improving passenger and cargo connectivity and making YEIDA more attractive for industries, logistics, investors and global businesses.

2. ₹31,000 crore industrial investment pipeline

YEIDA has created a substantial industrial investment pipeline, with 136 industrial projects allotted approximately 966 acres during 2025-26. According to officials, these projects are expected to attract nearly ₹31,000 crore of investment and generate more than 50,000 jobs.

The investment momentum is particularly significant because companies are moving from land allotment toward construction and implementation. The airport’s development has also increased investor interest in Yamuna City, according to YEIDA officials.

3. Semiconductor and electronics ecosystem takes shape

YEIDA is building a specialised industrial ecosystem for high-technology manufacturing, particularly semiconductors and electronics.

The strategy is significant for the region because it can move YEIDA beyond conventional industrial development and connect the Yamuna corridor with India’s expanding electronics and advanced-manufacturing economy.

The proposed Taiwan City, approved for approximately 300 acres in Sector 6, further strengthens this international technology-manufacturing orientation.

4. Medical Device Park and healthcare manufacturing

The Medical Device Park in Sector 28 represents another specialised industrial initiative aimed at creating a healthcare-manufacturing ecosystem.

More recently, YEIDA’s board approved plans for a medical-device testing facility aligned with the US FDA’s Accreditation Scheme for Conformity Assessment, potentially strengthening the region’s ability to support globally oriented medical-device manufacturers.

The sector could become an important component of YEIDA’s emerging healthcare and pharmaceutical ecosystem.

5. Road and Infrastructure Development Accelerates

YEIDA is strengthening road connectivity around Noida International Airport, the Yamuna Expressway and upcoming industrial clusters. Improved access roads and internal networks are being developed to support industrial, logistics and commercial growth.

The infrastructure push aims to improve passenger movement, facilitate cargo transportation and strengthen connectivity between the airport and major development zones, positioning the Yamuna region as an emerging multimodal logistics hub.

6. Logistics infrastructure receives a major push

With the airport now operational, logistics is emerging as a critical pillar of YEIDA’s economic strategy.

The Tappal-Bajna Multimodal Logistics Park, together with the Yamuna Expressway, airport and industrial zones, has the potential to create an integrated freight and supply-chain network.

This infrastructure could be particularly important for manufacturing sectors requiring efficient movement of components, finished products and cargo.

7. YEIDA’s financial position strengthens sharply

YEIDA’s financial numbers provide another important indicator of the authority’s recent growth.

According to figures presented at its 92nd Board meeting, total receipts increased from ₹974.37 crore up to July 31, 2025, to ₹1,853.74 crore up to July 31, 2026—a year-on-year increase of 90.25%. Industrial/mixed land-use receipts alone reached ₹1,195.99 crore.

The stronger revenue position can enhance YEIDA’s ability to finance infrastructure and support its expanding development programme.

8. Master Plan 2041 and airport-led regional development

YEIDA’s development strategy is increasingly taking the shape of an airport-led integrated economic region.

Instead of treating industrial, residential, institutional and infrastructure projects as isolated developments, the authority is building an interconnected ecosystem around the airport, Yamuna Expressway and planned economic clusters.

This strategic approach is critical to ensuring that the airport becomes an economic engine rather than simply another transport facility.

9. Healthcare, pharmaceuticals and education expand the economic base

YEIDA’s 92nd Board meeting approved several major institutional initiatives, including a 500-acre medical hub, a 480-acre university township, and a 100–125-acre pharmaceutical formulation manufacturing cluster.

The proposals indicate that YEIDA’s future economic model will not depend solely on manufacturing. Healthcare, pharmaceuticals, higher education and allied services are being incorporated into the regional development strategy.

10. Global investment strategy gains momentum

The proposed 300-acre Taiwan City is among the clearest indicators of YEIDA’s ambition to attract international manufacturing and technology investment.

The initiative is intended to attract Taiwan-based companies, particularly in electronics and technology manufacturing. Alongside semiconductor and electronics initiatives, it could strengthen the Yamuna region’s international investment profile.

At the same time, YEIDA’s industrial development is increasingly being supported by specialised clusters, airport connectivity and multimodal infrastructure.

From Yamuna Expressway to an economic powerhouse

The significance of YEIDA’s progress over the past year lies not in any single project. It lies in the convergence of multiple economic drivers.

Noida International Airport + industrial investment + semiconductors + electronics + medical devices + pharmaceuticals + logistics + Film City + education + international investment

Together, these initiatives have the potential to create a new economic axis in Western Uttar Pradesh and strengthen the NCR’s position as a major destination for manufacturing, services, aviation and global business.

The next challenge for YEIDA, however, will be execution. Land allotments, investment announcements and project approvals will ultimately have to translate into operational factories, employment, infrastructure and functioning institutions.

If that transition is achieved efficiently, the story of YEIDA in the coming years could be much bigger than the development of the Yamuna Expressway.

The emerging story is the transformation of YEIDA from a land-development authority into an airport-led economic development engine—and the next few years will determine how successfully that vision becomes reality.
