(26/12/2017) Noida :

Noida was all decked up and ready to welcome VVIP’s of the country on the Christmas Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, UP Governor Ram Naik and a plethora of ministers and legislators made it to the city on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

While loud sloganeering of ‘Modi-Modi’ which has become a signature gesture of PM Modi’s public rallies did take place here as well, Noida’s general public gave mixed reactions after the function. Many members of audience were disappointed at non-mention of Noida centric issues during the while event. Even the Noida-Greater Noida metro link found no mention during the Magenta Line Metro Inauguration ceremony.

Dignitaries Keep Mum throughout Metro Journey:

PM Modi’s arrival at Botanical Garden Metro Station and the ceremony thereafter was being live telecasted through a large screen on the stage at Amity Rally Ground. The crowd erupted in loud cheer as soon as it witnessed the black SUV of PM on the screen. He was welcomed by UP CM and other dignitaries at the station on his arrival. He moved to the first floor of station through the stairs decked up in red-yellow marigold flowers.

He was escorted to the corner having inauguration stone and unfurled it with the press of a button. Thereafter he moved to the second floor of the metro station the board the Magenta Line Metro. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accompanied by CM Yogi, Governor Ram Naik, Union Minister Mahesh Sharma, Union Minister Hardeep Puri, UP Cabinet Minister Suresh Khanna, Minister Satish Mahana and UP BJP President Mahendra Nath Pandey and Noida MLA Pankaj Singh. While all dignitaries entered the metro coach with PM Modi, Noida legislator being last was stopped by SPG guard to enter the same coach and was gestured to head forward. Crowd made a slight noise at this incident which was being telecasted live on the rally ground.

Contrary to previous travel of PM Modi in Metro, this time general public was completely banned from travelling with the PM. Throughout the live telecast the dignitaries also kept mum throughout the short two and half minute journey.

The entourage disembarked at Supernova Okhla Bird Sanctuary Metro Station and headed to Amity University.

PM Arrives at Amity amid loud cheers:

As soon as PM Modi took on stage, huge cheers of “Modi-Modi” reverberated through the ground. Approximately 25 thousand strong crowds had gathered at the Amity ground for the public rally.

Several VVIP enclosures were created right in front of the stage to cater to pass holders, whereas another risen large platform was made to host legislators and other VVIP’s. Two other BJP MLA’s from the district namely Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh and Dadri MLA Tejpal Nagar were stationed in this area. Former Minister of State in GOI Ashok Pradhan was also present in the same enclosure.

Meerut Commissioner Dr. Prabhat Kumar, ADG Prashant Kumar and IG Ram Kumar kept on inspecting different audience enclosures throughout the function.

Selfie Mania Grips One and All

Soon after PM reached the stage, people sitting in front rows barged to the barricades to click distant selfies. Throughout the event all front enclosures witnessed people of all age groups and genders posing at barricades for a dream selfie with the PM. Some BJp supporters also entered the media enclosure built right in front of the stage and clicked selfies from there, much to discomfort of media persons, some of whom were on live telecast.

PM’s attack of Bureaucratic Corruption touches crowd nerves:

During his speech at Amity Ground PM talked majorly of Good Governance. Apart from mention of infamous “Noida Jinx” no local issues figured in his speech. The speech sounded more conventional then customized for the occasion. He started with Christmas wishes and also remembered Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and BHU Founder Madan Mohan Malviya.

Later in his speech he attacked bureaucratic corruption in his own unique style. He said, whenever public goes to someone for some work they always ask “Mera Kya” and if you don’t give up to their demands they don’t budge. He said there are many lame laws which were promoting red tapism and bureaucratic corruption and many of these are being called off now. He informed the public that a total 1200 legislations have been written off during his tenure.

Ironically neither UP CM nor Noida MP and Union Minister Dr. Mahesh Sharma spoke anything on Good governance day or birthday of erstwhile PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

CM Yogi also referred to Dr. Mahesh Sharma as Tourism Minister, a charge he had given up many months back.

Also the podium to be used by PM was kept exclusively reserved for him as all other speakers used the podium on other end to make their address.
