Youth attacks constable, snatches weapon

Nawanshahr (Pb), Apr 30 (PTI) A motorcycle-borne youth allegedly snatched a police constable’s weapon after injuring him with a knife here today, police said.

Constable Sukhdev Singh was getting petrol filled in his motorbike at a pump here, when the accused attacked him with a knife and made off with his carbine, SHO (City) Raj Kumar said.

The injured policeman has been admitted to the local civil hospital, he said.

The SHO said CCTV footage was being scanned to trace the culprit, against whom a case had been registered under relevant provisions of the law.
