New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Rwanda between July 23-24, 2018, the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Rwanda. The visit is expected to review the entire gamut of bilateral relations.
FICCI is mounting an industry leaders’ business delegation to Kigali, on the side-lines of the visit of Prime Minster of India to Rwanda.
Rashesh Shah, President, FICCI and Chairman & CEO, Edelweiss Group is leading a 100-member Indian Business Delegation to Rwanda, including senior business leaders from the sectors like Infrastructure and Construction, Renewable Energy, ICT, Agriculture and Irrigation, Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals, Banking etc.
The delegation will participate in the India-Rwanda Business Forum which is being organised by FICCI in partnership with Rwanda Development Board on 24th July 2018 at Kigali.The India-Rwanda Business Forum will be addressed by Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame.
India is amongst the top trade, investment and development partner of Rwanda. Bilateral partnership between India and Rwanda which rests on civilizational ties and cultural bonds now cover all areas of mutual and contemporary relevance. Over the past decade, Rwanda has been hailed as one of the economic stars of Africa and is one of the fastest growing economy. Rwanda ranks 2nd in Africa in terms of competitiveness as per the Global Competitiveness Report of World Economic Forum 2017-18.
India and Africa share common socio-economic challenges and can benefit from knowledge, technology and resource sharing. The forum would focus on sectors of mutual interest between India and Rwanda.
The members of delegation are expected to have B2B meetings during their visit to Rwanda. The delegation includes representatives from companies like Afcons, Airtel, Ajanta Pharma, Apollo Hospitals, Avaada Power, EXIM Bank, Godrej Consumer products, Hero Motor Corp, Jain irrigation, JMC Projects, KEC International, KPMG, Luxmi Tea, Mahindra & Mahindra, Shapoorji & Pallonji, TATA, Texmaco Rail & Engineering etc.
