Speaking at an event Robin Hibu said, “Unfortunately, people from the Northeast are always mistaken as foreigners. I was completely taken aback by the heartless urban life when I shifted here. The bountiful nature of Arunachal Pradesh is not even remotely possible here. And then there are very few Arunachalis in Delhi. Many a times at India Gate and Qutab Minar, the crowd starts murmuring on seeing a northeasterns. We have to remind people that our country is a melting pot of diverse cultures and traditions. When we start speaking, they get even more surprised as we can speak Hindi too, I believe, we need to include Northeastern culture (heritage, history, race, festivals) in our schools’ and colleges’ syllabus nationally. We need to have more promotion in innovative ways to showcase the unique mosaic culture and heritage of Northeastern states. Our focus should also be to reach out to the youth from Northeast, who are very good in sports, music.

Just recently, I have donated my house for housing Mahatma Gandhi library and Rural information Centre for the tribal youths of my village. I have also launched a High Altitude Health Unit for Tribal villagers at remote Hong village on the Chinese border”.

Besides ensuring a safe environment for all, he also works for the upliftment of the community through his virtual NGO, Helping Hands. Helping hands is a non-profit organization / non-governmental organization empowering the needy with emergency and legal assistance and creating awareness. With a targeted and focused approach to make a positive difference, Helping hands has bucketed the causes as Emergency Assistance, Legal Assistance & Awareness creation.

Hibu has been hailed as a relentless health warrior for playing a pivotal role in providing health facilities to the weaker segments of different North Eastern states.

Sharing more on the same, Hibu, the good Samaritan says, “It’s been an extremely challenging journey so far, and I have no qualms in saying that I have never shied from taking the less travelled roads. I am pledged to serving the North East People in distress, and empowering them by creating awareness, providing legal-emergency assistance as well as healthcare–education facilities. We have been spreading all round awareness among people about the need to ensure their overall wellbeing, and to shield them from any discrimination. Every member of the society and every state is an integral component of the country, and in the true sense, happens to be the mainstream segment of our country and the pluralistic society. The seven sister states of the North Eastern namely Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura’ certainly being no exception, it thus becomes the duty of every citizen to ensure their safety and security.

We have regularly conducted cancer detection camps for north east people who are working in unorganized private companies with Cancer Society of India. Then there is a North East Blood Bank which has reserve North East youths for platelets. It takes pride to say that we have launched a North East  Blood Bank at AIIMS for emergency blood requirement of poor and helpless North East patients. AIIMS has given me the privilege to get blood from AIIMS by my SMS or whatsapp message. NE Blood Bank is the largest blood donation mobilizer in 2017-2018, even honoured by AIIMS Director for this achievement. Added to this, we initiated the mobilization of funds for the children cancer patients. Besides, Helping Hands NGO is in the process of exploring new frontiers for health care for the poor people from North East. The list is endless, but we have miles to go.”
