Two robbers arrested after encounter in Dadri

Two persons were arrested after a shootout in Dadri near Nangla Nainsukh village around 11pm on Friday night. The arrested have been identified as Shoaib (24), an original resident of Kalyanpuri in Delhi, and Sameer (22), a resident of Kavi Nagar in Ghaziabad.

The accused have been identified as Shoaib alias Chocolate, a resident of Kalyanpuri in Delhi and Samir, of Ghaziabad.
According to the police, the two of them were released from jail on February 7 after serving a two-and-a-half year imprisonment term for robberies. The two had committed two robberies on February 20 and 26 in Delhi and Loni area, the police said.

“The accused are habitual offenders and are involved in various robbery incidents. They met inside the jail and became friends. They also got acquainted with other criminals, so that they could work together after being released from jail,” Ram Sen Singh, station house officer, Dadri police station, said.

On Friday night, the accused were caught by the police after they tried to flee during the checking drive. The two of them are alleged to have fired at the police team, injuring a constable, identified as Nitin. The two of them were shot in the leg in retaliatory firing by the police.

The police recovered two .315 bore pistols, four live cartridges, one bike, two mobile phones and Rs35, 000 from the accused. The accused have been booked under sections of robbery, loot and attempt to murder of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act.
“We are getting in touch with other police stations to find out cases registered against them. Immediately after being released from jail, the accused committed robberies. We are also trying to find out if there were more people involved in the robberies. Previously, the accused were arrested and booked under the stringent Gangster Act,” Singh said.
