1027 FIRs & 827 arrests took place since Model Code of Conduct was applied, revels CEO Ranbir Singh

New Delhi: Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi Ranbir singh and his team, District Election Officers, Special Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioners of Police, and nodal officers of various departments today reveled data related to the Delhi Assembly Election 2020.

A total of 1029 candidates will be contesting for the elections out of which 842 are males & 187 are females.This election 1 crore 47 lakh voters will cast their votes under the 70 constituencies and will lock the fate of candidates in EVM. Out of 1 crore 47 lakh, 81 lakh are male & 66 lakh are female voter’s while 869 are third gender voter’s.

Further the officials detailed “498 are overseas voters, 11 thousand 600 are service voters and 50 thousand are public works department voters. 32,815 are first time voters between age of 18-19.

Praveen Ranjana Special Commissioner of Police told that a total of 1027 FIR got registed And 827 arrest has been done under different sections since Model Code of Conduct was applied. Around 10 crore cash has been sized so far, while narcotics worth 4 crore also got recovered.

Delhi will be the first state in which a booth app shall be used in every polling station for the first time in the country. This latest technological innovation will make the poll process fast through use of QR Code reading of voter slips of electors,” the Delhi CEO Office said.

To make election accessible there will be provision of Braille EPIC, Braille photo voter slip, ramp, wheel chair, volunteers, sign language and pick and drop’ facilities etc., for voters with disability. The facility in addition to the other basic amenities at polling stations.

The ECI gave direction to ensure that all arrangements shall be made to make voting a pleasant and comfortable experience for the electors of Delhi and it should be ensured that there is no inconvenience faced by the electors on polling day.
