10th Glorious Celebration of Sri Chitragupta Puja in Shipra Riviera, Indirapuram, Ghaziabad
Sri Chitragupta Puja was celebrated with great fun and fervor in Shipra Riviera
Indirapuram, Ghaziabad on Tuesday, 5th
Shipra Kayastha Mahasabha (SKM), a constellation of about hundred kayastha families
in Shipra Riviera, Indirapuram. SKM has been celebrating this Puja since 2004 and this
year it was the Tenth Glorious Celebration of the Puja.
Sri Chitragupta Puja is celebrated on Yam Dwitiya or Bhai Dooj, the second day
after Diwali. It is believed that Lord Sri Chitragupta Ji keeps records of the good and
bad deeds of each and every individual. On death, on the basis of the records of Sri
Chitragupta Ji, a person’s destiny is decided if s/he will go to heaven or hell.
Sri Chitragupta Puja celebrations are spearheaded by the kayastha as they trace their
genealogy from Adi Purush Shri Chitraguptaji. Shri Chitraguptji is believed to be
the divine incarnation in human form and have originated in entirety from the Lord
Bramha’s body (Kaya), hence the name Kayastha for his descendents.
The Puja was attended by many Kayastha dignitaries. The chief guest in the Puja
was Sri R K Sinha, Chairman, SIS Group and co-election-incharge Delhi unit of
Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). Among other distinguished guests were, Sri Ravindra
Kumar, Chairman, National Human Rights Council, Mr Ashok Srivastava, National
Vice President, Akhil Bhartiya Kayastha Mahasabha, Mr Sanjeev Saxena, President
Chitragupta Mission Trust, Arvind srivastava, R D Srivastava and many others. Being
the tenth glorious year, the SKM this time had invited all the kayastha families and
kayastha Mahasabhas from Indirapuram, Vaishali, Vasundhara, Noida, Ghaziabad,
Delhi and adjoining areas. Around 1000 kayasthas attended the Puja. Sri Ashok
Srivastava, Convener, National Kayastha Action Committee, was the advisor for the
Puja.
The Day started with the collective Puja of Lord Chitragupta Ji and the Lekhni Pujan.
Lekhni or ‘pen’ is considered to be the ‘tool’ of kayasthas. It is therefore, historically,
kayasthas have been found in the academic or accounting professions.
During the Day, several competitive and cultural programmes were organized for the
children of Shipra Riviera. The evening was marked by colourful, cultural programme.
Theme of the festival was ‘States of India’. The highlight of the show was folk dances
from Indian states and a fashion show. Several vibrant folk dance performances from
different states of India were presented by the toddlers and teenagers of Shipra Riviera.
The ‘Fashion Show – Tradition Indian Costumes’, presented by ladies of Shipra Riviera
marked diversity of the Indian states.
Among other attractions in the evening programme was a Comedy Show by Chitransh
Pradeep Pallavi of Great India Laughter show. The audience went mad with his wits.
Mr Jitendra Srivastava, singer of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ fame, added flavor to the cultural
evening. The spell bound audience was a scene.
The Chitragupta Puja by SKM is of its own kind; nowhere else in the Delhi NCR
region, this Puja is celebrated at such a massive scale. This Puja has made a significant
contribution in popularizing Lord Chitragupta in Indirapram and its neighbourhood.

Vivek Verma, Pramod Srivastava, Sachin Saxena, Vivek Kumar, Vivek Srivastava,
Kamlesh Kumar, Prakash Karan, Vijay Srivastava, Rupesh Srivastava, S Dayal,
Rajeev Srivastava along with all members of SKM SKM were put their hard work to
organized the entire show .
