Greater Noida News (30 March 2026): The 27th CEC-UGC Educational Film Festival concluded successfully at Gautam Buddha University (GBU) with a grand valedictory ceremony that celebrated two days of impactful film screenings, intellectual discussions, and recognition of excellence in educational filmmaking. The festival brought together filmmakers, academicians, students, and media representatives, creating a vibrant platform for showcasing innovative educational content through the medium of cinema.
The annual festival, organised by the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC) under the University Grants Commission (UGC), has been held every year since its first edition in 1988. This year’s edition featured films across 12 diverse categories, highlighting creativity, academic value, and technical proficiency in educational film production.

Other prominent dignitaries present included Madhav Govind, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at GBU, and Sunil Mehru, Joint Director of CEC.
The ceremony was graced by Manoj Kumar Dhar, Director of the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), New Delhi, and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jammu, who attended the event as the Chief Guest.
In his address, Prof. Manhas highlighted the festival’s long-standing contribution to promoting knowledge through visual storytelling. Acknowledging the effort behind each production, he commended the creativity and dedication of filmmakers who worked to translate academic knowledge into powerful visual content.

Prof. Manhas also emphasised CEC’s commitment to supporting the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, noting that digital education and innovative learning tools play a crucial role in strengthening the country’s educational ecosystem and empowering future generations.
Delivering the keynote remarks, Chief Guest Prof. Dhar described the festival as an important platform that allows young creators to express ideas and knowledge through films. He remarked that visual storytelling often leaves a deeper impression than written or spoken communication, as it has the ability to evoke emotion and connect with audiences on multiple levels. According to him, filmmaking requires not only technical expertise but also artistic sensitivity and creative vision.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rana Pratap Singh reflected on the success of the two-day festival, describing it as both educational and inspiring for the university community. He noted that such initiatives play a vital role in nurturing creativity among students while also encouraging them to engage with social and academic themes through innovative mediums.
During the ceremony, Prof. Madhav Govind delivered the vote of thanks and underlined the need for academic institutions to integrate emerging technologies with traditional teaching methods. He stressed that the evolving educational landscape demands interactive and technology-driven learning environments that enhance student engagement and understanding.
Over the course of the festival, 19 films selected by a panel of eminent jury members were screened for students, faculty, and other stakeholders. The festival received 320 film entries from across the country, reflecting the growing interest in educational filmmaking.

Winners across the festival’s 12 categories were honoured during the valedictory ceremony with cash prizes of up to ₹1,00,000, along with screening certificates and trophies in recognition of their creative and academic excellence.
In addition to the screenings, the event featured interactive sessions with film directors and producers, offering the audience valuable insights into the filmmaking process and the themes explored in the films.
The festival witnessed enthusiastic participation from distinguished dignitaries, accredited media representatives, filmmakers, deans, directors, heads of departments, faculty members, representatives from CEC’s Educational Multimedia Research Centres (EMRCs), and students of Gautam Buddha University, making the event a memorable celebration of education, creativity, and cinematic expression.
