Delhi, Sept 24th,2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be launching the much-awaited 5G services in the country on the 1st of October.
The announcement was made by the government’s National Broadband Mission on Twitter.
“Taking India’s digital transformation & connectivity to new heights, Hon’ble PM, @narendramodi, will roll out 5G services in India; at India Mobile Congress; Asia’s largest technology exhibition”, it said.
The India Mobile Congress is the largest digital technologies forum in Asia, consisting of a three-day international conference and a technology exhibition that will be held at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
A few days ago, Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that India is gearing up for the rollout of 5G services by October. The Union minister also said that the services will be scaled up after the launch.
“The government aims to cover 80% of the country with 5G services in a short time frame”, Vaishnaw said.
Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Ltd emerged as the biggest spender in India’s $19 billion spectrum auction, winning airwaves worth $11 billion.
Bharti Airtel, Adani Data Networks, and Vodafone Idea will be contributing to the same.
5G technology in India is likely to benefit the Indian economy by ₹ 36.4 trillion ($455 billion) between 2023 and 2040, a recent report by a global industry body representing mobile network operators estimated.
