9th Indo-German Students’ Exchange Programme 2015

Delhi Public School Indirapruam organized a Special Assembly on 9th November, 2015 to mark the culmination of the 9th Indo-German Students’ Exchange Programme 2015. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Ms. Manveen Anand, Project Manager – Educational Services and schools, Goethe- Institute Max Mueller Bhavan. Other esteemed guests who graced the occasion were Dr. Sanjay Garg, Member Managing Committee DPS Indirapuram and Mrs. Garg.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the esteemed guests. The school Principal Mrs. Meeta Rai welcomed all and thanked the host parents for extending their hospitality to the German students. She said that such programmes were immensely enriching as they made the students independent, confident and provided them an opportunity to learn about the culture of different countries, their teaching methodologies and attitude towards work. She further expressed her happiness that in their own way the students were trying to cross bridges, bond together and foster goodwill which would make the world a happier place to live in.

The Assembly marked not only the culmination of the Indo-German Students’ Exchange Programme, but also celebrated the joys of the festive season of Diwali. In keeping with the celebratory mood, the visiting German students presented the ‘Diwali Katha’ – a melodious rendition conveying the significance of Diwali. They also presented a colourfulDandiya dance which aptly captured the spirit of euphoria and festivity. Dressed resplendently in multi-hued traditional Indian clothes, the visiting German students mesmerized all with their melody, grace and rhythm.

A PowerPoint presentation showcasing various glimpses of the Exchange Programme was also screened thereafter. The visiting German students and the German teacher, Ms. Heiderose also shared their experiences on this occasion.  The highlight of the programme was a breathtaking ‘Garde Dance’ by the German Students which left the audience awestruck by its sheer grace, harmony and synchronization.

In a bid to sensitize the students to celebrate a pollution free ‘green’ Diwali, a poignant film depicting the environmental hazards caused by the smoke emanating from fire crackers was also screened.  A German poem on the need to preserve the environment was also presented by a student of the school. The school Principal Mrs. Meeta Rai urged the students to celebrate Diwali by sharing, caring and spreadjoy and warmth to the poor and needy rather than fire crackers.  She further exhorted them to celebrate a safe and green Diwali and lead them in taking a pledge about cracker free Diwali.

The Chief Guest, Ms. Manveen Anand congratulated the school Principal for making the programme a wonderful success. She urged the students to keep the spirit of the Programme and spread the light of happiness by touching the lives of the lesser privileged ones.

As a token of remembrance, souvenirs were presented to the German students and teachers by the school Principal Mrs. Meeta Rai and the Chief Guest, Ms. Manveen Anand. The program ended with the National Anthem of both countries, India and Germany.  The vote of thanks was proposed by Kevin Kurien, an Indian Student on the Exchange Program.
