#Faridabad hosts 1st Chief Minister trophy of kickboxing

Faridabad: Recently, the state of government in Haryana has introduced some special provisions to support sports and the sportspersons. This includes promotion of each sport in the state by starting a championship in the name of Chief Minister providing hosting of state level championship according to the calendar of the sports association of the respective sports. Sensei Santosh Kumar Agrawal, international referee and General Secretary Haryana State Kickboxing Association informed that becoming the first state association to host a state level championship, Haryana Kickboxing Association organised a three day championship at Faridabad.

The ‘1st Chief Minister Trophy-State Kickboxing Championship’ witnessed participation of 350 players including more than 70 girls also hailing from 18 districts of Haryana.  The three day championship ended on Sunday in a grand ceremony. Smt. Seema Trikha, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Haryana and MLA from Badkhal Constituency in Faridabad was the chief guest of the closing ceremony, while the program was presided over by Sh. Anand Mohan Sharan, IAS and Resident Commissioner Haryana Bhawan, Delhi. Sharan is president of Haryana Kickboxing Championship. Guest of honour on the occasion of closing ceremony was Sh. Gopal Kukreja President Rotary Club Faridabad Sanskar. Shri Naresh Malik, General Secretary, Olympic Committee Haryana and Jitendra Kumar State President Kreera Bharti were also present on the occasion.

Wrapping up the event on the third day the hosts emerged as the overall winner with 19 gold medals to their account, followed by Panipat while Rewari retaining the third position. The players from Haryana representing the state in the international championships were also honoured on the occasion. Rajesh Kumar Gole, kickboxing coach from Faridabad bagged the prize for the best instructor.  The prize for Best Female player went to Varsha from Karnal while Sonu from Bhiwani was awarded with the prize for Best player in male category. The team from Yamuna Nagar was adjudged as the ‘best disciplined team’.

Apart from the above prizes four players were felicited with the black belt. These four players were Raksha and Chavi Kumar Shreshtha from Faridabad, Kusum from Jhajjar and Sachin Kumar from Bhiwani.

Raj Kumar Agrawal, President Faridabad Kickboxing Association informed that Haryana has always been on top in the sport not only at the national level but also in the international arena.

IAS Anand Mohan Sharan, while talking to media said that representation has been given to the state government for recognising Kick Boxing as the official sport like other sports. Once this is done, the players, coaches and the sport itself would be given the requisite platform and facilities available to other sports. He said that since the Haryana Kickboxing Association is affiliated to National Kickboxing Association, Asian Kickboxing Association and World Kickboxing Association, it is already a well established sport and it is a matter of following the required process to get it added in the official sports.

Others present on the occasion were Anand Mehta, Ajay Adlakha, Pawan Nagpal, Vikas Agrawal, Ashok Goyal, Anil Gupta, Sanjiv Pathak, Pawan Kumar Agrawal, Pramod Tibrewal, Kameshwar Singh, R.K.Verma and others.
