Union Government should quash 12% GST from Sanitary Pads, Says NIGJ chairperson Sreerupa Mitra Chandhury

New Delhi: In a bid to provide sanitary napkins at the door steps Chairman of the National Institute of Gender Justice (NIGJ), Sreerupa Mitra Chandhury announced on the International Women’s Day that the institute will open Life Care Centre in 100 districts of the country for the wellness of the people.
“On International Women’s Day, I’m glad to announce that the institute has planned to open life care centers in 100 districts of the country where conditions are in pathetic state,” said chairman of the SIGJ, Sreerupa Mitra Chandhury.

The NIGJ has planned to deploy Life Care Agents in the life care centers will create awareness in their respective districts and through door to door campaign.
“The National Institute of Gender Justice has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Life Care Limited to manufacture low rates sanitary pads which will available be in the Life Care Centers. And Life care agents will campaign door to door to and convince them to use it for sanitation. The pad will not be free but in low rates,” she added.
While addressing the media she pitched for revoking GST from sanitary pads. “On this occasion, I urged to the Union Government to quash the 12% GST from sanitary pads in the upcoming GST council meeting.”
