Renewable Energy India Expo 2018 Kicks off at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida!

UBM India today launched 12th edition of the Renewable Energy India Expo at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida. The expo was inaugurated by Manu Shrivastava, IAS, Principal Secretary, New and Renewable Energy Department , Government Madhya Pradesh , Ajay Mishra ,IAS , Special Chief Secretary , Energy Department , Government of Telangana and Justin Wu, Head of APAC, Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

The expo has witnessed over 750 exhibitors from 45 different countries and participation from European Union. The show has different pavilion for different countries. The three day event will highlight innovations, challenges, and successful case studies and deliberations taking the sector forward.

Speaking at the event Manu Shrivastava said,

“The Indian renewable sector is the second most attractive renewable energy market in the world after china. I remember the time when we had started the energy In our generation was costly as compared to the energy from coal based sources. Solar energy was almost 6 rupees per unit but after we had started our Rewa project it cost went down to 3 rupees per unit that is first when solar energy become cheaper than thermal energy.”

On the Occasion, Ajay Mishra said,

“After Telangana came into existence we only have 6 thousand mega watt contracted electricity causing load shading and 2 to 3 hours power cut in urban areas and more in rural areas. Government had taken immediate measures and now our capacity is of 30 thousand megawatt. In year 2017-18 we had 6012 unit per person per year electricity consumption in the state which is much higher than the national average of 1075 unit per person per year consumption.”
