New Delhi : Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala today said it was the failure of his leadership that led to the resignation of Priyanka Chaturvedi.

Priyanka Chaturvedi today joined the Shiv Sena, claiming that she was hurt after the party let her down by reinstating workers who misbehaved with her.

Surjewala said, “Every time a party member leaves, it’s a matter of pain for us. People look for career progression. We wish all of them well, including Priyanka Chaturvedi. I must frankly and on record concede, yes, it’s a reflection on my leadership.”

Priyanka Chaturvedi quit the Congress party today morning, claiming that she was hurt that her former party did not take action against people who harassed her, rather reinstated them after expelling them initially.

She said she had left the Rahul Gandhi-led party over reinstatement of some party workers in Uttar Pradesh, who had misbehaved with her in Mathura.

“I was dismayed when certain party workers made off-colour remarks about me. I hoped they would be suspended. I felt let down when they were reinstated in the party. As a person who worked for the party for 10 years selflessly and tried to change the political scenario on how women are looked at, I felt let down,” she said.
