Department of Mechanical Engineering, I.T.S Engineering College, Gr Noida organised industrial visit

Greater Noida (24/4/2019) : Department of Mechanical Engineering, I.T.S Engineering College, Greater Noida has organized an industrial visit to Abilities India Piston & Rings Ltd., Sahibabad, Ghaziabad. Dr. Akant Kumar Singh and Harsh Gupta have coordinated the B. Tech third-year students for the industrial visit.

Abilities were incorporated in the year 1968. Major Products manufactured by the company are Pistons Assemblies, Pistons, Piston Rings, high pressure dies casting parts & special coatings etc. Earlier the company catered domestic demand for replacement market in 2 wheeler automobile segment only, till the year 1994. The Company then became a vendor to OEM’s in 2 wheeler/ 3 wheeler segments & supplied products to reputed companies like TVS, Greaves etc. during the same time the company also started with its exports to Italy. Manufacturing facilities were upgraded in 1995 to meet international quality standards and yet again in 2004 and 2010. Today Abilities exports to 35 countries and its exports are close to 65%. Abilities have an eco-friendly state-of-the-art infrastructure spread over 20,000 sqm. to deliver the highest technical standards, an extensive product range, ISO/TS 16949:2009 & ISO 14001 & 18001 Certification, talented management committed to quality and an R&D center with Engine Test Cell & flow analysis.

Students have got the exposure that how the production line work. They have knowledge about the casting and machining process of pistons. They got the exposure to the machines used to fabricate pistons and rings. They have elementary knowledge about the CNC programming used for CNC machine. Students have information about the different type and size of pistons used in an automobile. Information about the pistons and rings materials is given by foundry in-charge to the students.
