Greater Noida, 29 July 2022: It is often said that books hold the key to success within them and this largely relates to the life of Dr. H Chaturvedi, Director at the Birla Institute of Management Technology, Greater Noida.

In an exclusive conversation with Ten News, Dr. Chaturvedi who has more than 45 years of experience in teaching, and academic administration experience talks about the his passion for reading, importance of extracurricular activities and his hobbies, opinions on religious unity, secularism and much more.

Talking about his passion to read, travel and listen to classical music, Dr. Chaturvedi said that his favorite pass time is reading. “I mostly devote my mind to reading newspapers, books and magazines. I’m a lover of books. To remain as an effective leader of a business school, we have to keep ourselves updated about the latest happenings around the world,” he added.

Apart from books, Dr Chaturvedi shared that he also has a great interest in meeting new people, listening to Hindustani classical music, and traveling. “But, due to Covid, perhaps I forgot to travel and some fear has entered my mind. Spending quality time with friends and family and visiting my hometown or cities like Mathura are some of the things that I do quite often,” the Director of BIMTECH said.

Dr. Chaturvedi also talked about the practice of BIMTECH where all the VIPs and visitors from corporations or governments are presented with books.

When asked about not being in pop culture might hamper his interaction and relevance to the students, he replied that it was not an obstacle. “I know there is a gap in the mindsets and choices between the young gen Z and senior citizens like me and so we give them their space. They organize their own function, and they have their own music and food preferences. Every fortnight, students decide the menu for the institute. I have a deep interest in the cultures of different parts of the country and thus I allow students to celebrate their own culture and festivals as well. We celebrate Onam, Christmas, Eid, Janmasthmi, and all other festivals,” Dr Chaturvedi added.

Dr Chaurvedi also addressed the institute’s efforts to encourage religious unity, he stated that the controversies and protests in educational institutions due to religious issues and inequalities are quite frequent today. Maintaining a secular atmosphere in the institution is extremely difficult.

“We are highly motivated by the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. In our library, one can find a replica of the original constitution signed by the Constituent Assembly and all great leaders. All that’s written in the Indian Constitution is followed by us in letter and spirit,” he said.

He further added, “Every individual has the right to practice and preach any religion. The state must not allow any inter-religious fighting because of which India has witnessed the worst of the times during 1947-48.”

“Gandhi had to travel to different parts of the country to spread the message of peace and harmony. On October second, we perform the prayers of all religions to celebrate the spirit of secularism on the occasion of Gandhiji’s Prarthana sabha,” Dr Chaturvedi concluded.
