New Delhi, 21 September 2022: The Supreme Court has ordered a Delhi court to hear the Enforcement Directorate’s request to transfer a money laundering case against Delhi minister and AAP leader Satyendar Jain to a different judge on September 22.
The Supreme Court further ordered the Rose Avenue court to consider Jain’s bail request on Thursday.
The Principal District and Sessions Judge Vinay Kumar Gupta had recently suspended the bail hearing for Jain while giving the AAP minister and other co-accused in the case notice on the ED’s transfer request.
The judge postponed the proceedings before Special Judge Geetanjali Goel until further order and ordered the respondents to submit their response to ED’s argument by September 30. While Jain asked the apex court to reject the ED’s request to assign another judge to the money laundering case.
The agency has brought up a few concerns in its appeal regarding the bail hearings before Goel, who has regularly criticized the ED for its inquiry.
Jain, along with his co-accused Ankush Jain and Vaibhav Jain, who are all presently being held in judicial custody, have all filed bail petitions, on which Goel has been hearing the arguments on.
