Noida: 12-year-old dies after being beaten by school teacher

Noida, 11th October, 2022: On Saturday, a 12-year-old Class 5 student died allegedly after being beaten by his schoolteacher for failing a test in Noida based school.

The teacher was with the family when the child was taken to Dadri, then to Lok Nayak Hospital, where he remained until Saturday evening. He did, however, flee after the child died. He has not even returned home.

Shobharan, a 42-year-old teacher, has been identified as the accused. Four police teams have been formed to apprehend him. He has been charged under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to police, the Badalpur police station received a complaint from the child’s mother on Sunday, alleging that he was assaulted by his teacher on Friday and died while receiving treatment at a hospital in Delhi late Saturday evening.

“On October 7, Shobharan gave the students a test, which some of them failed and the victim was one of them. He caned these students on the palms of their hands. However, the boy appeared to have more than just hand injuries. He was transferred to Dadri Hospital for treatment.

So far, the cause of death is unknown, but Ram Badan Singh (DCP, Central Noida) has confirmed that the child was already sick and that they are investigating what symptoms he had on the day of the incident.
