Maharashtra, Dec 11, 2022: Prior to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Nagpur, for the inauguration of Samruddhi Expressway, former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday opined that the PM must address the “high-handedness” of the Karnataka chief minister pertaining to the ongoing border row between both states.

“The prime minister should come tomorrow… he can criticise us as he has the right to do so. But, he must also speak on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border row and the high-handedness on part of the Karnataka’s chief minister. Entire Maharashtra will be waiting to hear his opinion on the dispute between Karnataka and Maharashtra tomorrow,” he said.

Earlier, he also took a swipe at the Centre over its stand on the appointment of Supreme Court judges and also the demonetization decision. “Now they want to possess the power of appointing judges… instead of that, abolish the judiciary in this country… let the word of the prime minister be the law,” Thackeray said.

Criticizing chief minister Eknath Shinde-led government, Thackeray noted that there is no rule of democracy and it would be apt to declare that democracy has ended. “The value of your vote must not be counted in terms of ‘khoke’, but the feeling behind it. You do not have any idea as to where the vote given by you will land, and via which route… Surat, Guwahati or Gujarat,” he said while addressing a gathering at the 42nd Marathwada Literary Meet at Ghansawangi in Jalna district.
