Mumbai (India), 20th May 2023: Zomato, a meal aggregator, announced three top-level appointments on Friday, following a wave of exits in the food delivery industry.
Rakesh Ranjan, Zomato’s previous business head for creating businesses and hyperpure CEO, has been named CEO of the food ordering and delivery. While Rinshul Chandra, Vice President of Product, has been named Chief Operating Officer of the food ordering and delivery.
The third person that was appointed is Rishi Arora who will be CEO of Hyperpure, a B2B company that delivers goods to restaurants. Arora, a long-time Blinkit executive, was previously promoted to co-founder in July of last year.
Rakesh, Rinshul, and Rishi have been with Zomato and Blinkit for more than 5 years in various roles, according to the company’s statement.
Further elaborating on the new company hierarchy, Zomato said, “We believe that a change of leadership every now and then with capable people at the helm brings new perspectives to the business enabling it to evolve faster. Such leadership changes are also great for people development, and we are confident that our people strategy will set us up for success even decades from now.”
Several prominent executives at Zomato have departed in the last year, including Aman Priyadarshi (dining head), Siddharth Jhawar (head of Intercity Legends), and Gunjan Patidar (CTO).
In response to investor worries about the exits, CEO Deepinder Goyal stated in February that the business saw ‘no need’ to fill empty senior-level positions such as Chief Technology Officer and head of the food delivery division.
