PM Modi collaborates with Grammy award-winning singer Falu for a New Song

New Delhi (India), 17th June 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has teamed up with Grammy Award-winning Indian-American musician Falu to create a special song to showcase the benefits of millets and their potential to reduce world hunger.

The ‘Abundance in Millets’ song, performed by Mumbai-born singer-songwriter Falguni Shah, better known by her stage as Falu, and her husband and singer Gaurav Shah, is due to be released on June 16 via streaming platforms.

The year 2023 has been proclaimed as the ‘International Year of Millets,’ following A proposal by India that was supported by members of the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) Governing Bodies and the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly.

“Prime Minister Modi has written a song with me and my husband Gaurav Shah,” Falu told PTI ahead of the premiere of the song.

She stated that the song, composed in both English and Hindi, will be made available to everyone and will promote the power of millets.

During their talk about the potential of music to promote change and improve humanity, Prime Minister Modi suggested she write a song with a message of ending hunger.

As music knows no bounds, Prime Minister Modi recommended writing a song about millets, she elucidated.

The New York-based singer emphasised that the song’s goal is to promote millets and encourage farmers to cultivate more of them in order to help end hunger in various regions of the world.

Millets were one of the first crops to be cultivated in India, with evidence of its consumption dating back to the Indus Valley civilization.

Millets are now grown in over 130 countries and are considered a traditional staple for over half a billion people in Asia and Africa.
