In response to Haryana’s release of over 1 lakh cusecs of water into the Yamuna river on Sunday, the Delhi government has issued a flood warning.
The Delhi government has alerted the public about the anticipated rise in the water level of the Yamuna river to 205.33 meters, which is close to the danger mark of 205.50 meters. Residents in low-lying areas have been advised to remain prepared for potential flooding.
This decision follows the Haryana government’s announcement of releasing water from the Hathnikund Barrage due to heavy rainfall in the state. They have indicated their intent to continue this water release as required into the Yamuna river.
The Delhi government has affirmed its vigilant monitoring of the situation and implementation of necessary measures to avert flooding. As a precautionary step, teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed in low-lying regions.
Additionally, the government has urged the public to refrain from approaching the banks of the Yamuna river and to comply with the directives issued by the authorities.
