Tragic Incident: 10-Year-Old Boy Found Hanging at BJP MP’s Residence in Assam’s Silchar

New Delhi, August 27, 2023: In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through Assam’s Silchar, the lifeless body of a 10-year-old boy was discovered hanging at the residence of BJP MP Rajdeep Roy on Saturday evening.

The young boy, a fifth-grade student, had been residing at the MP’s house along with his mother and elder sister for a number of years. While local residents are speculating that it was a suicide, the police have registered a case of unnatural death.

The boy’s family hails from the Palong Ghat area of Cachar district, and his mother works as a domestic help at MP Rajdeep Roy’s residence. The mother had moved her two children to Silchar in search of better educational opportunities. The boy’s body was sent to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for a post-mortem examination.

Upon being informed of the tragic incident, BJP MP Rajdeep Roy rushed to his house and later spoke to the media. He shared, “They told me he hung himself. The door of the room where the body was recovered from was closed from the inside, and when the police broke it open, the boy was found unconscious. We rushed him to a nearby hospital and the doctors tried to save him, but it was too late. He was declared dead by the doctors.”

While police have initiated an investigation into the case of unnatural death, preliminary findings suggest that it was a case of suicide. Family members informed the police that the boy had been upset with his mother for not providing him with a mobile phone for playing video games.
