The grand graduation ceremony of the Smart Fellowship Program was jointly organized by Galgotias University and Nimmaya Foundation on 18 November 2024. The event honoured students who made significant contributions to education and social service. The key topics of discussion were society, environmental conservation, and women’s empowerment.
The program began with the inspirational lines of the famous poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan, motivating the students:
“You will never tire!
You will never halt!
You will never turn back!
— Take an oath, take an oath, take an oath!”
These opening words inspired everyone to remain dedicated towards education.
During the ceremony, esteemed guests like Aradhana Galgotia, Director of Operations, former Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Renu Luthra, current Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) K. Mallikarjun Babu, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Awadhesh Kumar, Registrar Dr Nitin Gaur, and other distinguished personalities shared their thoughts and extended their best wishes to the students for future endeavours.
Nimmaya Foundation’s co-founder Navya Naveli Nanda and Smart Fellowship co-founder Mr. Samyak Chakravarty also shared their insights. Navya Naveli Nanda emphasized the importance of women’s respect and self-reliance, while Mr. Samyak Chakravarty inspired the young generation to bring about change in society.
A special discussion was held on the respect for women in Indian culture, highlighting the significant role of women through the verse “Yatra Naryastu Pujyante Tatra Ramante Devata” (Where women are honoured, there the gods rejoice).
Following the invocation of Goddess Saraswati, a lamp-lighting ceremony was conducted, and the students of Galgotias University were honoured for their unique contributions and dedications.
Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias University, stated that respecting women is not only linked to laws and rights but also reflects an individual’s mindset and perspective. Changing societal attitudes and fostering sensitivity towards women is crucial. The respect for women remains incomplete as long as violence, exploitation, and discrimination against women persist. It is essential to enforce strict measures for women’s safety and to curb acts of violence against them in society.
Aradhana Galgotia, Director of Operations at Galgotias University, emphasized in her address that in Indian culture, women are considered as goddesses. They play a vital role in every field of life, whether in family, education, healthcare, or politics. They symbolize the power of creation, the essence of motherhood, and the core of society. Navya Naveli Nanda and Mr. Samyak Chakravarty were honoured with bouquets and mementoes.
Concluding the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) K. Mallikarjun Babu described the event as a milestone for students, stating that such programs not only inspire them to become good citizens but also motivate them to bring positive changes in society.
