I.T.S College of Pharmacy celebrates World Pharmacists Day

I.T.S College of Pharmacy celebrated World Pharmacists Day with great enthusiasm on 25th September 2025. The theme for this year was “Think Health, Think Pharmacist”, to raise awareness of pharmacists’ contributions to society and to acknowledge their critical role in healthcare. Arpit Chadha, Vice Chairman, I.T.S – The Education Group, wished the faculty and students on this professional day, emphasising the crucial role that pharmacists play in advancing health and well-being. He highlighted the value of pharmacists who serve as trusted advisors, advising patients on possible safe and efficient administration of medications, adverse effects, and drug interactions in today’s quickly changing healthcare system. He also acknowledged their role to assist people in avoiding difficulties, following treatment programs, and eventually improving their quality of life by providing knowledgeable guidance.

The program commenced with lamp lighting and a warm welcome of dignitaries, faculty members, and students, followed by an inaugural address by Dr S Sadish Kumar, Director-Pharmacy. He was delighted to extend a cheerful welcome to our distinguished guests. He thanked them for accepting the invitation and sparing their valuable time, despite their busy schedules. He explained the theme of this celebration, wherein pharmacists ensure safe and effective use of medicines, as they promote public health, and they support the healthcare system in countless ways. He emphasised that this day is marked to honour the services of pharmacists who work quietly behind the scenes to make a huge difference in patients’ lives. Before concluding, he appreciated the team of coordinators and volunteers for their splendid efforts to make this event possible.

The program continued as both eminent speakers shared their insights on the evolving role of pharmacists in patient care, research, and public health. Chandra Bhushan Thakur, Head – Operations, Albert David Ltd, commended the faculty, staff and students for organising this important event, and implored all aspiring pharmacists to preserve the principles of this noble profession with diligence and honesty. He recalled the crucial role that pharmacists played during the pandemic by ensuring an uninterrupted medicine supply to the world. He emphasised India’s global contribution in safeguarding public health and urged everyone to take pride in being pharmacists. Concluding his message, he reminded, “Never lose your identity as a pharmacist & always feel proud.”

Dr M. Kalaivani, Principal Scientific Officer, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, expressed her happiness in joining the celebration of World Pharmacists Day 2025. She highlighted the eminent contributions of pharmacists in promoting health, which encompasses physical, mental, and social well-being. She further emphasised that pharmacists are trusted partners in healthcare, playing a vital role in supporting patients and the healthcare system. She noted that pharmacists act as custodians of medicines, providing the right advice to patients. They also play a key role in quality control and regulatory processes, which have enabled India to become the second-largest exporter of vaccines. Calling pharmacists an incredible part of the healthcare system, she stressed that service to the patient is the greatest service to society. She also underlined the importance of empowering families and students to adopt healthy practices for overall well-being. In her address, she shared details about the role of the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) and its initiatives, such as the National Formulary of India (NFI) and Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI).

Dr Madhu Verma, Professor delivered the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed guests, dignitaries, faculty members, students, and organisers for their presence and contributions. She acknowledged the valuable insights shared by the invited speakers and appreciated the efforts of the coordinators and volunteers in making the event a grand success. She concluded by thanking everyone for their active participation and support, which added meaning and value to the celebration.

Various activities were organised post lunch, including tree plantation, community visit, and rangoli competitions, through which students showcased their creativity and knowledge. All participants extended wholehearted cooperation throughout the celebration, contributing to its success. The plantation, community visit, and rangoli competition witnessed remarkable performances, where students displayed exemplary knowledge, creativity, and skills. The event was efficiently coordinated by Dr Rajkumari, Dean & Professor, and Manish Kumar, Assistant Professor. The program concluded with group photography and the national anthem.
