GREATER NOIDA News (03/12/2025): To mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, has launched a nationwide Accessibility Innovation Initiative aimed at empowering persons with disabilities through technology-driven solutions. The programme has been introduced jointly by the GIMS Medical Incubation Centre and the School of Social Impact & Human Development (SSIHD), signalling a major national push toward inclusive innovation.
The initiative has been rolled out under the SSIHD–Manavta Innovation Circuits (MIC) platform, with a mission to accelerate the development of next-generation assistive technologies addressing mobility barriers, vision and hearing impairments, communication disorders, cognitive and learning challenges, neurological conditions, and long-term disability needs.
This launch marks one of India’s first structured collaborations between a government medical incubation centre and a social impact institution focused solely on innovation for accessibility. Under the partnership, innovators, research groups, and startups will be supported with clinical guidance, problem-validation frameworks, and real-world testing environments provided by GIMS.
The Medical Incubation Centre will play a central role by offering clinical expertise, access to patient-centred problem statements, and validation mechanisms to ensure that technologies developed under the initiative are practical, safe, and aligned with real user needs.
Emphasising the vision behind the initiative, SSIHD stated: Introducing this programme on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities reaffirms our dedication to building an inclusive and impact-driven innovation ecosystem. With GIMS Medical Incubation Centre’s clinical strength and domain credibility, we aim to convert innovative ideas into scalable solutions that improve lives. Our objective is unwavering — Innovation that creates real-world impact.
