Kolkata/Bhopal, May 9 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Saturday that a “new era” of good governance, security, and development has begun in West Bengal with Suvendu Adhikari taking oath as the state’s first Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chief Minister.
“Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Suvendu Adhikari on taking oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Starting today, a new era of good governance, security and development has begun in the state,” Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister told IANS after attending the swearing-in ceremony of Suvendu Adhikari as the new West Bengal Chief Minister in Kolkata.
Mohan Yadav, along with Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan — another veteran party leader from Madhya Pradesh BJP, was present at the event.
Suvendu Adhikari, 57, was administered the oath of office by West Bengal Governor R.N. Ravi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President Nitin Nabin, several Union ministers, and Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states attended the ceremony.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Yadav said the people of West Bengal had voted for development, security, and public welfare.
He expressed confidence that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Suvendu Adhikari’s leadership, West Bengal would achieve new milestones in investment, industry, governance, and welfare schemes.
Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Shukla met the newly sworn-in West Bengal Chief Minister and conveyed greetings on behalf of the people of Madhya Pradesh.
Rajendra Shukla said the election result reflected the people’s faith in development, nationalism, and effective governance.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, West Bengal will reach new heights of development and prosperity,” he added.
Madhya Pradesh BJP President Hemant Khandelwal called the party’s victory a tribute to BJP workers who struggled for years in West Bengal.
“The soil of Bengal bears witness that democracy here has often come at the cost of sacrifice. This victory belongs to all BJP workers who fought despite challenges and never gave up,” Khandelwal said.
With Suvendu Adhikari assuming office as the new Chief Minister, the BJP has formed its first-ever government in West Bengal, ending 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress.
